Wanderer Of The Sunken Paths Image

Background Narrative

Among the peoples of the water — nymphs, sea elves, tritons, and water genasi — an ancient legend is told:
The oceans are crossed by hidden currents of primordial magic.
These currents, known as the Sunken Paths, wind through the depths like invisible lines:

through the ruins of forgotten kingdoms,
past relics buried beneath ages of sediment,
and into caverns no light has ever touched.

Most cannot see them. Some barely sense them.
But you are one of the rare few who can truly perceive them.

Since childhood, the Paths have called to you:
At first as faint impulses, directions you knew without reason.
Later, as guidance toward places no one should have found — sunken shrines, ancient ship graves, fragments of cities long erased from every chronicle.

The elders of your people know this truth:
The Sunken Paths do not choose their wanderers by chance.
They seek those with open minds and unwavering spirits —
those who pursue knowledge not for power, but for preservation.

Thus you became a Wanderer of the Deep Paths:

  • You can sense the delicate currents where magic and water intertwine.

  • You find places hidden from all others.

  • You hear the whisper of ancient waves that most ignore.

  • You carry knowledge that would be lost to the world if you hadn’t uncovered it.

Now the Paths lead you farther still —
away from your home, into new waters and distant lands.
Where they will guide you next, you never know.

But one truth remains certain:

The Sunken Paths never choose the wrong wanderer.

Feature: Seeker of the Sunken Paths

Here is the feature written in official D&D 5e style.

Seeker of the Sunken Paths — Feature

You possess an intuitive connection to the Sunken Paths — ancient magical currents that flow through the ruins of forgotten kingdoms and untouched ocean depths.

You gain the following benefits:

Current Sense

You can instinctively feel the direction and behavior of natural and magical underwater currents.
You can reliably find the fastest or safest route to an underwater destination, even in maze-like environments.

Sunken Passage Awareness

You are naturally adept at discovering hidden paths, submerged entrances, and remnants of ancient structures.
The DM may grant you advantage on Perception or Investigation checks when searching for such features in aquatic environments.

Magical Resonance

You can sense the presence of strong water- or sound-based magic (such as control water, water breathing, or thunderwave) within 30 feet.

This feature does not grant direct combat bonuses, but it gives you near-instinctive navigation and awareness in anything involving water, depth, or ancient underwater ruins.
