Forsaken of the Gods

(this is my first homebrew background any feedback is appricated)

The gods abandoned you and let everything you loved be destroyed, then still dared to demand worship and fear. To you, they are not distant protectors but monsters hiding behind miracles, feeding on hope and pain. You’ve sworn that no prayer will ever leave your lips again only curses and you train every day so that one day you can put a blade to a god’s throat and prove they can bleed.

Ability Scores: Increase your Strength or Dexterity by 1, and your Constitution by 1 (you can’t raise a score above 20 this way).

Skill Proficiencies: Choose 2 of the following Insight, Investigation, Religion, or Perception

 Years of divine betrayal have made you hard to fool and obsessed with how faith really works. You read motives in a glance, know the stories and symbols of temples and cults, notice small details others miss, and carefully pick apart every “miracle” until only the ugly truth remains.

Tool Proficiencies: choose of the follwoing: Thieves’ tools, Poisoner’s Kit, Mason’s Tools

Languages: Choose two languages. One of them must be a divine or forbidden tongue associated with the gods (such as Celestial, Abyssal, Infernal, Draconic, Deep Speech).

You cannott choose the specific sacred language of the god who abandoned you – in your world, that tongue is spoken only by the gods themselves, and learning it is one of your long-term goals.

Equipment: A dungeoneer's pack, a simple dagger sworn to be drawn only against a god, a set of smith's tools, a broken or defaced holy symbol of the god who failed you, a book of bitter prayers and resentful notes, a set of traveler's clothes, and a belt pouch containing 10 gp.
