Raised in a bustling workshop—whether a family storefront or a hidden nook down the street—you learned the value of hard work and clever hands. Your curiosity and skill let you craft a wide variety of items with your tools, and your ingenuity ensures you reap the rewards directly, without relying on a middleman.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Insight and Persuasion skill checks.
- Tool Proficiencies: You gain proficiency with two of your choice: Brewer’s Supplies, Carpenter’s Tools, Mason’s Tools, or Smith’s Tools.
- Languages: Choose between Dwarvish or Halfling.
- Equipment: You start with two sets of artisan’s tools matching your chosen proficiencies, two letters signed by master craftsmen proving the completion of your apprenticeships, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
Sweatshop: You gain special crafting abilities with your chosen tools:
- Brewer's Supplies: Know recipes for a number of craft brews equal to half your Proficiency Bonus (minimum 1).
- Carpenter's Tools: Build simple furniture. At 7th level, craft Artisan Furniture; at 15th level, craft Custom Furniture with hidden compartments or traps.
- Mason's Tools: Craft stone statues; large at 7th level, gargantuan at 15th level.
-
Smith's Tools: You specialize in one metal. Starting at 6th level, any weapon or armor you craft from this metal gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls (weapons) or AC (armor). At 14th level, the bonus increases to +2. These items are otherwise nonmagical.
Down but Up: You sell your creations for 20% above market value.
