Elven Observer

Elven Observers are watchers set beyond the borders of their woodland homes. Trained to listen, observe, and learn rather than act rashly, they move quietly through the wider world to understand how threats form before they reach the forest. Some merely gather knowledge to carry home; others intervene discreetly when patience alone is no longer enough.

Ability Scores: Elven Observers rely on keen awareness, patience, and subtlety. Dexterity reflects their ability to move and act quietly and precisely, while Wisdom supports long watches and careful judgment. Intelligence is often valued for remembering routes, patterns, and information gathered during observation.

Feat: Elven Observers do not gain a feat from their background. Their abilities are represented through skill training, tools, and experience rather than a specific feat.

Skill Proficiencies: Elven Observers are trained to move without drawing attention and to conceal their true purpose when necessary. Stealth reflects their ability to watch without being seen, while Deception represents the subtle social masking required to blend into unfamiliar communities and gather information discreetly.

Tool Proficiencies: Elven Observers learn practical tools that support quiet travel and information gathering. A disguise kit allows them to blend into unfamiliar settlements without drawing notice, while cartographer’s tools are used to record terrain, routes, and observations to be carried back to their homeland.

Languages: Elven Observers are expected to understand those beyond their homeland. Learning the languages of neighbouring peoples and potential threats allows them to listen unseen, gather information accurately, and recognise danger before it reaches the forest.

Equipment: Elven Observers travel lightly and inconspicuously. Their equipment typically includes practical clothing suitable for blending into local communities, a few simple tools useful for quiet access or fieldwork, and a small amount of coin for expenses while travelling among other peoples.
