You have been Deaf since birth. As a result, your other senses have become highly refined and sensitive. With this background, your ability to perceive the world around you through sight, smell, taste, and touch is excellent.

Languages: Though you can speak Common and your native language and your primary language is Common Sign, a 3-D language using the hands. Being deaf makes learning other languages too difficult. You lack the ability to hear your own voice and have spent years learning to effectively use your voice to speak common and your native tongue.(See Speech/Deaf Accent) Common sign (your primary language) along with common and your races native language are the only 3 languages you can learn. (Lip reading to understand applied)
Equipment: Explorers pack and 10 GP.
Spellcasting: Spells that require speech may be signed instead.

- Equipment: Equipment: Explorers pack and 10 G. A note pad and writing utensil to help you communicate if need be.
As a Deaf person, you have come to rely on your sight and other senses to remain aware of your surroundings, and you are not shackled by the limits of vocal communication.
- Permanently applied Deafened condition.
- Spells and effects that require the creature to hear the caster have no effect on this creature. Examples include Suggestion, Command, and Vicious Mockery.
Lip Reading:
Being Deaf you have become proficient at lip reading. Within 10ft and able to see the creature speaking you automatically understand any language you know. A creature covering its mouth you automatically fail (ex mask helmet etc.) 11ft to19ft. you must pass a DC 10 Perception check to understand. 20ft and beyond you automatically fail.
Checks & Saving Throws:
-Automatically fails checks and saving throws that rely solely/primarily on sound.
Combat:
- Vulnerable to damage taken while under the Blinded Condition.
- No penalty to general attack, spell, damage, and defense rolls.
- Shouted information (like an enemy weakness) does not make it to you, unless a party member is within lip reading range( roll rules apply) uses common sign or it is obvious enough though gesture etc. (pointing to target etc.)

Suggested Characteristics
You rely heavily on your sight, and probably grew up somewhat lonely due to the rarity of others knowing Common Sign or even attempting to communicate with you. You often get discouraged speaking and often chose to remain silent.
