You are a collector of secrets and a curator of connections. Whether through charm, cleverness, or subtle magic, you know how to make people talk, and more importantly, how to make them listen. Your name may not be widely known, but your influence is quietly felt in many places. Information flows towards you like moths to a lantern, and very few truths remain hidden for long once you decide to look.

Some see you as a harmless social butterfly. Other know you better: you are a living network, a walking archive of favors owed and secrets shared.

Ability Scores: Your talents lie in perception, analysis, and understanding others rather than physical prowess. This background reflects your sharpened instincts and mental acuity, honed through years of observation, conversation, and careful study of people and their secrets.
Feat: Your experience navigating social networks and hidden information grants you a unique edge. This feat represents your ability to gather intelligence, read situations, or maintain a broad web of contacts built on trust, charm, and discretion.
Skill Proficiencies:

You are trained to both uncover hidden truths and interpret the intentions behind them.

  • Investigation reflects your ability to follow leads, uncover patterns, and piece together fragments of information.

  • Insight represents your talent for reading emotions, detecting lies, and understanding motivations beneath the surface.

Together, these skills define your role as an analyst and information gatherer.

Tool Proficiencies:

You rely on practical tools to support your work and maintain discretion.

  • Disguise Kit: Used to subtly alter your appearance or presentation when gathering information under different guises.

  • Calligrapher’s Supplies: Used to record notes, encode information, and maintain careful written records that only you fully understand.

Languages: Your work has brought you into contact with many cultures and hidden circles. You have learned an additional language to better navigate these spaces, interpret coded messages, or earn trust among those who value discretion.
Equipment:

You begin your adventures equipped for subtlety and observation:

  • A disguise kit for adopting alternate appearances when necessary

  • A small, decorated notebook filled with coded notes, symbols, and half-written leads

  • A set of fine but colorful clothing suitable for social environments

  • A personal token from a past contact, favor, or deal

  • A belt pouch containing 15 gp

Each item reflects your reliance on preparation, presentation, and careful documentation rather than brute force.

Feature:

 Web of Familiar Faces

You maintain an extensive network of acquaintances, informants, and friendly intermediaries built through charm, discretion, and mutual favors. Wherever people gather, there is a chance you already know someone.

Once per session, you may declare that you have a preexisting contact relevant to the current location, organization, or situation. Work with the DM to establish who this contact is, how you know them, and what kind of relationship you share.

This contact can:

  • Provide contextual information, rumors, or background knowledge

  • Offer minor assistance appropriate to their role or resources

  • Help point you toward useful leads or people

Your contacts are not guaranteed to have complete or accurate information, nor are they obligated to endanger themselves. Their willingness and knowledge are limited by their circumstances, personality, and relationship with you.

Once introduced, a contact remains part of your network and may be encountered again in the future, though their availability and usefulness may change over time.

Glimpse The Gilded Thought

You have innate psionic magic tied to Fey cognition.

At-will (no slot):

  • As a bonus action, make eye contact with a creature you can see.

  • You read surface-level emotions and intent (hostile, nervous, hiding something, etc.).

  • No specific thoughts—just vibes and emotional clarity.

Limited Use (Proficiency Bonus per Long Rest):

  • Sustained eye contact (1 round):
You may ask the DM one direct question about what the creature is thinking.

  • 10 seconds of uninterrupted eye contact:

    • You gain deeper insight (fears, desires, immediate plans).

    • Target makes a Wisdom save vs your spell DC.

Deep Mind Walk (High-Level Feature, DM-gated):

  • Requires physical contact + sustained focus.

  • Functions like Detect ThoughtsModify Memory tier effects.

  • Causes exhaustion if used repeatedly.

  • This keeps the fantasy intact but avoids constant mind-reading abuse.

Empathic Aura-Moodweaver

You can subtly influence emotional states.

  • You have 5 Empathy Charges

  • As an action, expend 1 charge to:

    • Calm tension

    • Boost morale

    • Heighten unease

    • Encourage trust

Effects are subtle, not mind control.

Recovery:

  • 1 charge per long rest day.

  • If all charges are spent, you gain one level of exhaustion until at least 1 is restored.
