I asked for the keys to the cosmos; my Patron gave me a toddler with a live grenade. My familiar is eighteen inches of pure chaotic energy and the sole vessel of my magic. If it sees a shiny dragon's tooth, they want it. If they see a deep well, they want to jump in it. My life's work isn't uncovering ancient secrets anymore—it's making sure my source of power doesn't get eaten by a wolf while they’re trying to cast, fireball. I will probably forever be The Patron’s Punchline. Everyone in the celestial and infernal realms is probably laughing at me.
The Familiars Attributes
- The Hyper Toddler: It thinks Fireballs are normal to use in a village and tries to hug enemies to deliver touch spells.
- The "Helper": It tries to solve every problem with magic immediately, often revealing your position or turning a simple negotiation into a magical incident.
- The Spiteful Toddler: It knows it holds the power and uses it to "extort" you for snacks or shiny trinkets before it agrees to cast a spell.
- The Battery: You are the "grounding wire." If the familiar gets too far away, the magic builds up and they might explode;
- The Soul Bind: If the familiar drops to 0 HP, they don't die instantly but vanish back to the Patron’s realm. And you might be able to get them back through a lot of gifts to your Parton
- Not My Dangerous Toddler!: You can use your Reaction to take damage intended for the familiar.
