You have worked or do work as a barber. These folk are typically called for, when one needs a shave or a haircut. Though that is far from the only duties of a barber. Many barbers have also applied their skills with knives in medical practises. Barbers have been used for both blood letting (when that was a medical practise), surgery and dentistry. In some cultures, your position would even be considered work of priests, since curses can sit in the hair. Therefore, you are expected to have a fine knowledge of anatomy and medicine, but also quite the steady hands, if you do not want to mess up and end up kill someone.
You have typically been trained from a young age to become a barber, either by a parent, who would also have been a barber, or through a tutor, who took you in, when you showed interest and/or potential.
Your adventuring does call you away from your workbench, whether you were conscripted as a medic, called to some noble to do your work (maybe you failed and are wanted for it), or you were forced to leave your position for other reasons. Or maybe you wanted to see the world for yourself.
- Skill Proficiencies: Medicine, [Tooltip Not Found]
- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: an assortment of knives (barberknives and surgecal knifes), combs, a small jar of balm, soap, a balm brush, a set of common cloths, a working belt for easy access to the barbers tools, a bottle of colone (perfoume), and a pouch with 10 gp.
Since you have experience in both hairdressing, surgery and dentistry, you would not have any issue finding cheap work between adventures. You might even be able to find work shearing sheep. But as long as you are in a town or city, you can alway find work. The pay for the work is determined by the nature of the client in question.
Suggested Characteristics
Your work has lend you to both meet and see quite a few things. Your typical client can be a noble lady wanting you to dress her hair, a gentleman wanting you to shave his sideburns, a poor man with a toothache that requires removal of the tooth, or someone needing an operation. Because of this, you can come off as cold to scenes of grotesque nature as well as quite sociable to others. But who knows what this might hide....
