Hailing from another plane altogether, you journeyed across existence and many lands to learn and grow, eventually finding yourself at the whim of a ship and her crew. They took in you in and sheltered you, and made you work hard. You went through many hardships onboard, learning how to withstand storms and combat and raiding other vessels. You experienced many cultures, learning a bit about them and even picking up some languages.
This crew, and yourself, all being of Elven descendent, have an innate survival instinct against potential charms and poisons and have great eyesight in darkness, making them efficient pirates.
The ship you make your home on, is the Elencestie (ELLEN KEST DI AYE - the Star Seeker), an exploratory vessel mostly running with an Elven crew, captained by the beautiful Captain Scarlett "Lady of the Red Veil" Redridge.
She takes you under her wing and trains you in all things pirate. Where might your adventures lead you?

When you need to, you can secure free passage on a sailing ship for yourself and your adventuring companions. You might sail on the ship you served on, or another ship you have good relations with (perhaps one captained by a former crewmate). Because you're calling in a favor, you can't be certain of a schedule or route that will meet your every need. Your DM will determine how long it takes to get where you need to go. In return for your free passage, you and your companions are expected to assist the crew during the voyage.
If you worship the Moonmaiden/Moonweaver/Moon goddess, you will be granted advantage on Perception checks while the moon is bright in the night sky.

You spent years under the wing of a gorgeous and ruthless Elven pirate captain aboard an exploratory vessel, learning the ways of seafaring as well as pirating for survival and for glory.
Being a pirate, however, does not mean you are inherently violent and selfish. You were around many that were, but you remain untainted by the hostile sealife.
If your character has a pirate background, you may select this background feature instead of Ship's Passage.
No matter where you go, people are afraid of you due to your reputation. When you are in a civilized settlement, you can get away with minor criminal offenses, such as refusing to pay for food at a tavern or breaking down doors at a local shop, since most people will not report your activity to the authorities.
