Possessed Body (Updated)

You are not the original owner of your body. You are possibly a spirit who chose an unfortunate soul who needed help to share a body with, or a spirit that happened upon an opportune shell, or maybe you even forced out the original tenant to take the body for yourself. What did the host do to bring on this possession? Was it a familiar gone wrong? An unlucky encounter? Did they let the spirit in knowingly? Were they born with them? What kind of relationship do you have with your spirit companion/host? Is this spirit like having a friend around? An enemy? A bully? Who are they, if you know them?

The Other Guy

Since there are two inhabitants of this body, you now have to compromise how you operate, or not. You may interact with others in various ways:

If the spirit is a friend: You two may be able to interact with others differently, and one may be able to talk their way out of a situation better than the other depending on the situation (You would be the host)

If the spirit is an invader: You are in a constant fight for your body, and therefore you may have random spurts of spasms or other socially inappropriate acts. (You could be either, but have a stance on how the body works)

If the spirit is a bully: The spirit isn't necessarily interested in the body, but would just like to make your life hell. You will be more distant, and may have outbursts of anger due to the voice in your head. (You would be the host)

If either the spirit's soul or the host's soul is destroyed: You may need to hide the fact that you are a spirit who has fully taken over a body, or be scarred by your encounter with a spirit. (You would either be the host or spirit)

In addition, your spirit corrupts the host's body. Say, if your host is a human, but the spirit was a tiefling, then the human may experience horn growth/tail growth.

By having 2 beings in the same form, it is possible for the other to know some information even if you do not. Roll a D20 and if you roll a 19 or above, the DM can provide some limited information that the host/spirit may know from their previous life.

Equipment: Equipment: You take upon the background equipment of the host, and therefore you choose your starting equipment from any of the core backgrounds. For example, if your host was a hermit (Be that your character, or the character your spirit possessed) then you start with the equipment of a hermit.
