For reasons unknown to you—be it a strange planar anomaly in your blood, an unusual resistance to magical energy, or an anatomical quirk—the mages of the academy used your body as a living canvas and a subject for invasive, untested magical experiments. Whenever their spells failed or their research hit a wall, their frustration was taken out on you through physical abuse or agonizing biopsies as they carved away flesh to examine the residue of their arcane trials.

Years of physical trauma and horrific experimentation have twisted you into a hypervigilant survivor. You didn't endure this crucible because you were the strongest or the most resilient, but because you learned to adapt to the shadows. You became a ghost within the academy, someone who instinctively merges with the environment to go unnoticed, freezing and carefully monitoring your surroundings for the slightest sound before making a move.
