Captain Of Ship Image

You have Spent a Majority of your life sailing the seas as a Cutthroat Pirate, plundering Merchant ships, and raiding port towns. While sailing on the seas youve learned how to survive in an aquatic world of sharks and savages. Youve indulged in Larceny at sea and sent more than just one poor soul to their briny grave. Fear and Bloodshed are no stranger to you, and you have garnished a somewhat unsavory reputation port in many port towns.

Skill Proficiencies: You get a proficciency in Athletics and Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Navigators tools, and Water Vehicles
Languages: You know the thieves cant, and one other language of your choice.
Equipment:  you have a flask, grappling hook, rapier, lucky charm, common clothes, and small bag of 10gp

Feature: No Honor

You come from a dark and seedy background where everyone is trying to get the upper hand on everyone else. As such you have learned too read people and see the true intentions behind their words and actions. You have advantage on (wisdom) insight checks.

Suggested Characteristics

You should think about why your character would have turned to piracy, and what their position in the crew means for how they interact out in the world. A captain would act almost as a nobleman in the world expecting respect and reverence versus a slave who would likely choice to be unseen whenever possible.

Variant Captain of Ship: Bad Reputation

If your character has the "Pirate Captain" background you can select this background feature instead of "No Honor"

No matter where you go, people are afraid of you due to your reputation. When you are in a civilized settlement, you can get away with minor criminal offenses, such as refusing to pay for food at a tavern or breaking down doors at a local shop, since most people will not report your actvitiy to the local authories.
