The Order of the Sacred Heart are devoted to purging other dimensional evils from the land! They will hunt fallen celestials, demons, aberrations, infernal beasts, and the undead wherever they rise. Hunters are their scouts and their warriors, searching the land for any hint of unearthly evil, and ending it. They answer only to the Eight Seers of the Sacred Heart, eight wizened sages, whose life is devoted to divining, studying, and analysing clues as to where evil resides. Seers relish the relative quiet of their position, not because they dislike the action of hunting, but because the chaos of hunting can lead to mistakes or missed clues; as a seer, the time and quiet in study enables them to almost perfectly uncover the locations and weaknesses of evil beings! When one of the eight dies, the remaining seven will elect a hunter to join the vacant seat.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose one from among: Arcana,History, Investigation, Medicine, Nature, Perception, Religion, Stealth, or Survival; and then choose another from among: Arcana, History, Religion, or Medicine
- Languages: Choose one exotic language (Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon)
- Equipment: A monster hunter’s pack (see the sidebar), a set of common clothes, and one trinket of special significance (choose one or roll on the Gothic Trinkets table after this background).
Prior to becoming a hunter, and long before you were a seer, your path in life was defined by one dark moment, one fateful decision, or one tragedy. Now you feel a darkness threatening to consume you, and you fear there may be no hope of escape. Choose a harrowing event that haunts you, or roll one on the Harrowing Events table.

Those who look into your eyes can see that you have faced unimaginable horror and that you are no stranger to darkness. Though they might fear you, when threatened by an otherworldly creature or monster, good-aligned creatures, and any Hunter, will do their utmost to help you. Unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them, they will even take up arms to fight alongside you, should you find yourself facing an enemy alone.
As you command the respect of those clerics who share your ideals, you and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at any good-aligned temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith.
Seers are masters of divination and study. You may take a long rest to study in a library, religious structure, apothecary, or study chamber to uncover hidden facts, including the location, of an evil creature in your plane. If you are not already tracking an evil creature, this study will give you advantage on perception checks should you come in contact with places that that creature has been, or against its stealthiness if you are being ambushed by it. You gain all the benefits of a long rest, too
