The Living Dead Grave Robber Image

Before your deathless nature came about, you were many things. Some might have called you a jack of all trades, though the title hardly matters.

Grave robber. Tomb raider. Archaeological researcher.

Dress it up however you like. At the end of the day, you’re stealing from the dead.

And really, they surely don’t need it more than you do… right?

Ability Scores:

Ability Score Increase

Death has left its mark upon you, hardening your body beyond what it once was, while years spent trespassing where you did not belong taught you how to talk your way out of trouble.

Your Constitution score increases by 2, representing the unnatural resilience granted by your deathless nature, and your Charisma score increases by 1, reflecting your talent for lying, bargaining, and explaining why you absolutely had permission to be digging up that grave.

Skill Proficiencies:

Skill Proficiencies

You gain proficiency in the Survival and History skills.

Your time spent navigating graveyards, ruins, forgotten roads, and dangerous wilderness has taught you how to endure hostile environments and find your way through places most would rather avoid. Years of disturbing ancient tombs and handling relics of the dead have also left you with a surprising amount of knowledge about old cultures, burial customs, forgotten families, and the histories attached to the things you steal.

Feature:

Knowledge of the Grave

Having plundered graveyards, crypts, and mausoleums for most of your life, you have become disturbingly adept at recognizing when the dead have been disturbed.

You can determine whether a grave has been filled within the last 10 days, and you can recognize signs that an older grave has been disturbed since its original burial.

Additionally, at the GM’s discretion, you can identify the race or ancestry a corporeal Undead creature belonged to while it was alive, provided enough of its remains are intact for you to examine.

Years spent practicing such a questionable profession rarely go unnoticed. At some point, you were caught—or came dangerously close to being caught—plundering the resting place of the dead. Word of your deeds spread among the locals.

Work with your GM to determine where this happened, what you stole, and how the people of that settlement now regard you. Those who recognize you may be suspicious, frightened, hostile, or unwilling to offer you aid.

Able to Feed

You feed on the blood or other life-giving fluids of living creatures, most often using your sharp fangs.

As an action, you can feed on a creature within 5 feet of yourself if that creature is willing, Charmed by you, or has the Incapacitated, Grappled, Paralyzed, Restrained, Stunned, or Unconscious condition.

You have 2d6 Feed Dice.

When you feed, roll a number of Feed Dice up to your maximum number of Feed Dice, then add your Constitution modifier to the total (minimum bonus of +1). The target takes Necrotic damage equal to the total rolled, and its Hit Point maximum is reduced by the same amount.

If you roll a 6 on any Feed Die, you regain 1 expended use of your Dhampir Bite.

If feeding reduces a creature’s Hit Point maximum to 0, you also regain 1 expended use of your Dhampir Bite.

Feeding from the Willing

If you feed on a willing creature or a creature Charmed by you, that creature can expend 1 Hit Die instead.

The creature rolls the Hit Die and reduces its Hit Point maximum by the amount rolled. When it does so, you regain 1 expended use of your Dhampir Bite.

Feeding in this way does not end the Charmed condition.

Hit Die Deficit

If a creature has no Hit Dice remaining when you feed from it, roll your Feed Dice and add your Constitution modifier.

The creature takes Necrotic damage equal to the total rolled, and its Hit Point maximum is reduced by the same amount.

Creatures Susceptible to Feeding

You can feed on any creature that possesses blood or another suitable life-giving fluid.

The GM determines whether a particular creature can be fed upon.

Vampiric Vulnerabilities

You have Vulnerability to Fire and Radiant damage.

This vulnerability applies regardless of the source of the damage, including your own spells and effects caused by sunlight.

Wooden Stake Through the Heart

If you are hit by an attack made with a wooden weapon that deals Piercing damage, and either the attack is a Critical Hit or the attack reduces you to 0 Hit Points, the weapon stakes you through the heart.

While the weapon remains lodged in your heart, you have the Paralyzed condition.

This condition ends when the weapon is removed.

Undead

You have the [Tooltip Not Found] creature type, specifically counting as a Vampire or Vampire Spawn where relevant, in addition to your normal creature type.

You do not age, and you do not require sleep.

To complete a Long Rest, you must spend at least 4 hours in stasis. While in stasis, you remain completely motionless, but you are fully conscious and aware of your surroundings. You can see, hear, think, and perceive normally, but you cannot move without ending your stasis.

Sanguivore

Your deathless body can no longer properly consume ordinary food or drink.

If you consume more than a small nibble of food or sip of liquid, you gain the Poisoned condition until your body expels what you consumed.

While Poisoned in this way, you must make a Constitution saving throw every 10 minutes.

The initial DC is 10, increasing by 5 after each successful saving throw.

On a failed save, you gain the Incapacitated condition for 1 minute as your body violently rejects and expels what you consumed.

Once the offending food or liquid has been expelled, the Poisoned condition ends.
