Former Courtier
Exiled Noble • Royal Servant • Keeper of Forbidden Secrets
“Crowns may fall, but secrets have a way of surviving.”
Introduction
Once, you belonged to the Court.
Perhaps you served royalty directly. Perhaps you entertained nobles, poured their tea, maintained their gardens, guarded their chambers, recorded their histories, or whispered secrets into royal ears. Whatever your station, you learned how the Court truly functioned.
Then the Deck fell.
The crowns cracked. Palaces emptied. Royal families scattered, disappeared, or became targets themselves. The customs that once governed Underland became little more than fragments of a dead age.
But you remember.
You remember the names behind the titles, the alliances behind the ceremonies, and the secrets hidden beneath polished floors. You know which doors once opened for a royal seal and which smiles at Court concealed a knife.
And there are things the surviving Queens would very much prefer you forget

Feature: Court Knowledge
Your time within the royal Courts gave you an intimate understanding of Underland's nobility, customs, symbols, and political history.
You can usually identify the insignia of major royal houses, recognize common Court titles and formal customs, and determine whether someone appears to have genuine connections to a former Court.
You also retain knowledge of at least one forgotten royal location, such as an abandoned safehouse, secret passage, hidden chamber, old meeting place, or concealed route.
Argent Pavilion
Your former position at Court has also tied you to the Argent Pavilion, a prestigious school associated with the education and training of those connected to Underland's higher Courts.
As part of your background, you are required to attend the Argent Pavilion. Your character may currently be enrolled, may have attended in the past, or may have been summoned back depending on your character's history.
Your connection to the Pavilion can provide opportunities to meet other students, instructors, former Courtiers, nobles, scholars, and political figures. It can also create obligations, rivalries, expectations, or unwanted attention.
The DM determines the exact circumstances of your attendance and how the Argent Pavilion fits into your character's story.

Your contacts might include former servants, nobles, guards, scribes, academics, merchants, entertainers, spies, or other survivors of the old Court.

Disgraced Noble
You were not merely employed by the Court.
You were born into it.
Your family belonged to one of the old noble houses before the fall of the Deck. Your title may have disappeared, your estate may have been destroyed, and your family name may now carry more danger than prestige.
Noble Name
You may invoke your family's former name to gain access to people, locations, or organizations that still respect, fear, resent, or remember your house.
Your name may grant you an audience with former nobles, surviving servants, old political allies, or members of rival houses. However, your family name is not universally welcomed. Some people may refuse to help you, seek revenge against your family, or attempt to use you for their own purposes.
Your DM determines when your family name carries influence and what consequences may accompany it.
Prerequisite: You must have a noble or aristocratic family connection.
