Prior to the Fracturing, the tribes of Naesciënce, known as Keepers, lived in harmony. Readers and Writers worked together to preserve stories, history, and knowledge through scripts, scribed onto pages placed in sanctum walls. These scripts were to be spread throughout the lands through oratory by the Speakers, a nomadic people whose very landmass wandered alongside them.
This balance was bound to the land through Anchors, the coalesced essence of language, manifesting physically as Oaths for speech, Scripts for reading, and Quills for writing.
Once of age, Keepers would make pilgrimages to touch an Anchor, imbuing themselves with a portion of their power and, depending on what Anchor they contacted, become a Speaker, Reader, or Writer.
