Runaway Image

You did not just leave home; you fled it. Driven away at an early age by physical abuse, cold-hearted mental cruelty, a suffocatingly strict religious upbringing, or the crushing despair of extreme poverty, you chose the unpredictable dangers of the streets over the guaranteed suffering of your old life. Survival became a daily puzzle. While some runaways survive by slipping into the shadows or begging for coin, others rely on sharp intuition, fast-talking guards, or befriending the alley cats and stray dogs who share the gutters. Constantly looking over your shoulder has made you incredibly twitchy, hyper-aware, and deeply adaptable to the harsh realities of a life on your own.

Reason for Running (d8)

Instructions for Players: Read through the tables below or roll a die to determine your character's history, mindset, and unique street keepsake. Once chosen, manually type or paste these choices into the Notes or Backstory section of your digital character sheet. Of course, feel free to create your own.

1: The Gilded Cage. Your family was wealthy but suffocatingly cruel; you traded luxury and high-society isolation for freedom.
2: Strict Dogma. You were being raised in a punitive, fanatical religious cult and fled into the night right before a major mandatory ritual.
3: Extreme Poverty. There simply was not enough food for everyone. You left the family home so your younger siblings would have a better chance to survive.
4: Unchecked Anger. A parent, guardian, or guild master was physically abusive, and you finally found an open window to escape their reach.
5: The Scapegoat. You were framed or blamed for a tragic local accident or a high-profile city crime you did not commit, forcing you to vanish into the shadows.
6: Cold Indifference. No one harmed you, but no one cared either. You realized you were completely invisible to your caretakers and simply walked away.
7: Conscripted/Sold. Your guardians intended to sell you to a cutthroat labor ring, mercenary company, or pirate crew, forcing you to flee on foot before the contract was signed.
8: Hidden Magic/Curse. You developed dangerous, unpredictable magical abilities or a strange planar affliction that terrified your community, causing you to run before they could hunt you down.

Feature: Personalit Traits

Your past has shaped who you are, but it does not have to define who you become. Consider why you ran away, what you left behind, and whether someone is searching for you. What do you hope to find? What do you fear most?

Develop your character's personality by considering their motivations, friendships, enemies, ideals, flaws, phobias, hobbies, interests, pet peeves, habits, superstitions, and recurring dreams. You might also invent personal details such as a birthday, treasured possession, unusual allergy, or secret ambition.

Choose whichever details make your character interesting and enjoyable to roleplay. You need not answer every question, and some answers may emerge through your adventures.
