You were on the fringe of the Lost Horizon. Whether as a mystic, a prophet – driven by politics, the orchid dust, or the Great Dark itself – or as an ideological reactionary, you sought to change Ship City and the Orders that ruled over the more ignorant denizens of Jumuah. Whatever your path, you were determined to reshape the Lost Horizon with your drive, conviction, and ideas. Unfortunately, others failed to see what you could offer or how they might benefit from your confidence. In the end, you stood alone at the fringe.

SPICE ENGINEER

The orchid dust changed everything, and you knew how to make it work. In your makeshift laboratory, tucked away in some alley or forgotten cul-de-sac, you experimented with ingredients gathered from gardeners, explorers, and the occasional expeditionary returnee. Some of your mixtures failed or didn’t perform as expected, but those were only minor setbacks on your path to success.

BIRD WARDEN
Birds were everything to you. You understood them, or so other people thought. It actually took a lot of guesswork to learn their behaviors – but they worked just like regular folks. No magic involved. With your affinity for or insight into the things you were put in charge of, including ornithiums, ship's birds, and other critters – yes, not always birds, actually – you took your work seriously, you did.

CORIOLITE SEER
You could tell the future. Or at least the way a Coriolite interpreted it – with many possibilities and nothing actually right or wrong. You used different paraphernalia to accomplish this: tea leaves, old bones, pseudo-algebra, or just regular dice. Of course, they were not regular in that sense – not the dice nor the tea. In your hands, they were full of truth-telling and, well, possibilities.

REVOLUTIONARY PROPHET
You were the prophet of the masses, the one who would help them break free from the Guilds' control – or so the theory went. Your tools were your voice, your fiery rhetoric, and the fusillard gun at your side, though it was a dud you’d never use. If things went as planned, you'd lead the people toward liberation – assuming you didn’t end up imprisoned first.

TOAD DREAMER
The truth was out there – just beyond your grasp. Unless, of course, you used orchid dust to tip the scales in your favor. You’d always been searching for something, and that something seemed to lie within the dreams conjured by the dust. You joined the Black Toad, hoping to uncover more, always chasing the next epiphany, the next batch of dust. Not an addict, but fully committed to the cause – your cause. One day soon, you would find the truth. Or so you believed. Maybe.

RIM ZEALOT
There was no future in Jumuah. You and a precious few had the vision and audacity to suggest this. But it was easier for you out there on the Rim. You saw the Greatships depart but they never took anything with them, only brought the riches into the system. So it was up to you to make the people of the Colonies understand that they held the future in their callused hands. Leave Jumuah and expand the colonies to a better future.
