Someone had to keep Ship City, the Colonies, and all the Greatships – and not-so-great ones – running. The world didn’t spin on its own; it was up to you to make it happen. Whether you kept the ships running, stood watch on their hulls, tinkered in their deep bellies, or made the colonies operate by working the vacuum, mining the deep asteroids, or loading wares that finally reached Ship City, it was your effort that kept everything moving. Without you, it would all grind to a halt.

HULL GUARD
Spending long hours on the hull of a ship, like an encrusted barnacle, was your life. Always alert to Slipstream turbulence or the faint glow of Cherenkov radiation, your vigilance saved crews and ships from the dangers of the Great Dark or rogue tugships. But the long time in the Dark changed you, making you sensitive to bright lights, loud noises, and strong tastes. Now, you find comfort in the shadows, where a dark corner feels like home.

WRECK DIVER
You had a knack for spotting entry points and deciphering blueprints just by looking at an old wreck. To you, every wreck was an intriguing spatial puzzle. Squeezing through tight spaces without damaging your exo-suit, you were always the first to find and secure treasures for your crewmates. With tools to cut, pry, and bend hull plates – or set precise charges to separate entire sections – you proved your skill in both reading schematics and the practical art of dismantling wrecks.

VACUUM WELDER
You like to melt things. Always did. You almost burnt down your childhood home when you “welded” your dad's fusillard gun to the gas stove. But you learned and you became a goddamn genius. In your mind you were like an ancient warrior, wielding your torch as a weapon. You became a freelance welder, welding for the big boys – The Guilds and whatnot. The more dangerous the mission, the better.

DEEP MINER
You were always wary of the starry skies. All that emptiness. As a kid you would build a fortress under your bed, later improving by digging through the floor to the neighbor below. After a terrifying ordeal out to the asteroids, you finally felt at home. Digging, burrowing and blasting down to the heart of it all. The riches don’t entice you, no, it’s the road down and the solid embrace of walls all around you that makes you tick.

CRANE RAT
You were always destined to climb. Though your memories are hazy, your mates recall it well – scaling ladders between districts or chasing thieves across rooftops. With no real direction, you eventually drifted to the harbors and the ‘Bay, where you found your calling with the crane rats. Climbing, jumping, and securing cargo became your routine, whether in an exo-suit or just a breathing mask – wherever the cranes reached, you followed.

MACHINE TENDER
Tinker not thinker, people used to say about you. Always with your nose deep down into a broken gadget or another. Your fingers deftly disassembled and reassembled any kind of machine, circuit board or gizmo in front of you. The theory behind how it all works was not for you. You had a knack for getting things to work, and steadily rose from kites, to hydroponic pumps, to reactors and even gravity generators.
