Travel and the unknown is in your veins. You had already pushed the limits in the Lost Horizon, piloting shuttles and ship boats through the dark, keeping watch over the star lanes, and uncovering the treasures of Jumuah – whether it was asteroid ice, nebulous gas, or rare minerals hidden within moons and belt rings. Your ability to take control and guide ships, rovers, and capricious working kites was nearly unmatched in the system – you were one of the best.

TUGSHIP PILOT

Navigating the miasma between Ship City and Hull Town, or steering Greatships and Sloops into the docks of Aluminum Bay – this was your daily work. You performed your tasks with a steadfast and clunky Tugger, obviously not your own but belonging to one of the big shipping companies. After a day’s work, you relaxed in one of the cantinas of the ‘Bay, smoking a long pipe as all spacefarers did.

HULL WARDEN
Whether walking with a lantern through the vast, cavernous holds of Greatships or creeping through the vents of ore haulers beside the cold vacuum, you could always detect leaks or faulty piping before they became a danger to the ship, its crew, or the entire expedition. You had learned to distinguish the sound of healthy creaking and well-oiled bolts from fractured rivets and the eerie whisper of escaping atmosphere.

GUILD SURVEYOR
The Jumuah System is full of hidden treasures, waiting for any clever soul to discover – whether in the depths of the Dark, across vast stretches of flat space, among wreck clouds, or on the rocky moons of Amalum. Armed with scanners, optimeters, and other strange devices, you scoured and claimed whatever you found for the Guilds of Ship City. It was a lonely but fulfilling job, knowing you were essential to the survival of the Diaspora.

KITE HANDLER
Simple machines were just tools, best left to the workers. You, however, learned to operate kites, the intricate, near-intelligent contraptions created by the Machinists. They toiled in the mines of the Rim or served as logic simulacra deep within the Greatships' mainframes. Kites, in your modest opinion, were easier to trust than Birds and nearly as sophisticated.

LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER
Somebody had to lead the way in the dark. That somebody was you. The space lanes of the Jumuah system didn’t keep themselves safe and sound. You serviced the radio buoys, seeded the oxygen caches, and stoked the old reactor with heavy water to keep the light on in your own asteroid lighthouse. From time to time, you got the odd visitor or encountered shipwrecked and sadly solid frozen corpses floating by – but most of the time, it was just you and the will-o’-the-wisp of the Shalenko light.

ASTEROID HAULER
Herding boulders across the vast expanse of space was your somewhat menial work – still, you did it with a singular fervor at the helm of your craft. Using the reinforced claws and magnetic field braces of your ship, you steered ice, ore, and mineral meteoroids to the nearest hauler bound for Ship City. When not boxing and bouncing stones ahead of you, you found solace in the quiet solitude of the empty Dark.
