House Targaryen descends from the dragonlords of ancient Valyria. They escaped the Doom of Valyria and eventually conquered much of Westeros using dragons.
Targaryens are famous for their silver-gold hair, violet or pale eyes in many bloodlines, powerful royal legacy, and connection to dragons.
Their family history is filled with conquest, civil wars, ambition, and the belief that they were born to rule.
