You have spent years aboard ships hunting the largest and most dangerous beasts that roam the seas: leviathans, or whales. Fighting the raging storms and thrashing beasts has ingrained in you a toughness hard to compare to a life on land. As you rose through the ranks of the ship, you learned all manner of skills useful in the maritime world, everything from knots and setting sails to harpooning and navigating. And, if you don't personally know a skill, you know or knew someone who did. Life at sea working aboard the whaleboats taught you how to never let anything get in the way of landing your catch, whether that be crashing waves or vengeful attacks by the whales themselves, because your family and home depend on you making a profit on the voyage. You are tenacious, determined and focused when it comes to your pursuit of the leviathan but always respectful of that awe-inspiring animal. Being a whaler, you are accustomed to long periods of time away from shore and exploring the wide ranges of the world is no strange thing to you. You have seen all manner of strange and wonderful sights both beautiful and terrifying on the high seas. These make for popular stories that captivate people's attention as they hang on every word of your whaling yarns.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Athletics, Animal Handling, Survival, and Acrobatics
- Tool Proficiencies: You are proficient in Vehicles (water) and either Carpenter's Tools or Navigator's Tools.
- Equipment: A set of artisan's tools (Carpenter's or Navigator's), Block & Tackle, Fishing Tackle, and Hemp rope
Not every whaler is responsible for the same tasks on board a ship. Some are exclusively harpooners, while others tend to the rigging or barrel-making. Choose or randomly pick what role you filled on your whaling voyages.

Other sailors and mariners have a certain respect for you and your fellow whalers. Due to your impressive experience at sea, most of them will defer to your judgment in nautical matters and follow your lead in a crisis situation like a storm or a seaborne attack. Chances are that you are the most capable seaman around when things go wrong.

You are not a whaler to provide for your home or to explore the seas. You pursue whales fanatically because you are searching for one in particular that wronged you in some way. Perhaps it maimed you permanently leaving a tell-tale scar of your brief encounter with death or someone you cared for deeply was killed by a whale. However it happened, you are possessed by a dark and enduring hatred for the leviathan and will do anything to kill the one responsible for your pain.
You would know your target anywhere, no matter how much distance between you or what conditions envelope you. You automatically succeed on a Perception check for identifying your hated enemy and have Advantage on Perception checks for other seaborne beasts.
