Outsider

You have spent much of your life in a society that does not view you as one of their own. Maybe you were a member of a different race or enemy culture, adopted in as a child by a merciful couple. Maybe your ancestors committed some cardinal sin, forever smearing your family name. Maybe you were brought to this society as a conquest or refugee of war. For whatever reason, acceptance has not come to you easily and you must work twice as hard for any status or favor gained in this ostracizing land.

Suggested Characteristics

Outsiders tend to be shaped by society’s extreme  reaction to them. Growing up in such an environment can be very influential to views on right, wrong, relationships, duty, etc. Many Outsiders choose to turn their back on such cold communities, holding a grudge and their feelings close to their chest and rejecting it before it can reject them. Many other Outsiders go the complete opposite direction, studying their community’s history, language, and customs in a bid to blend in and gain acceptance. They are likely to shape their mannerisms, ideals, etc. to fit in as closely as possible with the society that rejects them.

1	I spend countless hours studying the history, language, and customs of my new society.
