You are not quite assassin, not quite soldier. You are something in between. Your job is the protection of specific individuals and their interests. Your work secretive, dangerous, and intimate by nature. Maybe you rose to prominence in a local lord's retinue, or maybe you're a clever mercenary in the employ of a wealthy merchant; or maybe you're the right hand of a notorious, successful criminal. Either way, you're an expert in deterrence and protection, and you can see assassins come from miles away.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Stealth, Investigation, Insight, Perception, or Intimidation.
- Tool Proficiencies: You are proficient with a game set of your choice.
- Languages: Lifeguards must be able to communicate with people. Choose one non-extraplanar language from the list.
- Equipment: Lifeguards are always armed. You get a pouch of 10 gold, as well as a longsword, or two daggers.
Feature: Patronage
Whether you've left your employer's service or are adventuring on their behest, you are on good terms. Your patron's subordinates will treat you with reverence and respect, and probably obey your orders, provided those orders fall within the purview of their jobs. Your patron will also go out of their way to assist you upon request, unless it conflicts with their interests. Work with your GM to determine who your patron is, and what sort of power, influence, and resources they wield, as well as what their end goals are. The patron may request services in exchange for any favours provided.
