You were born or spent a formative part of your life in the country of Vessar, a land under the rule of a group of power-hungry mages but also blessed with an abundance of magic. Unfortunately for you, you ended up on the wrong side of those power-hungry mages. Maybe you wanted too much freedom. Maybe you worshiped the Four. Maybe you witnessed some atrocity and spoke too loudly about it. For whatever region, the mages imprisoned you to do hard labor until the end of your life. Somehow, you got free and managed to make it to Brightshore, but slavery has left it's mark on you.

Feature: Slave's Toughness
You've been pushed to the point of breaking in long hours working for the mages of Vessar more times than you can count. They've always let you recover eventually, but it has given you the ability to push past where others would already be exhausted. You skip the first check for gaining exhaustion from long travel, hard work or staying awake for more than 24 hours and do not gain exhaustion. If subsequent checks are called for after more hours of travel, work or staying awake, the DC is reduced by 5 for you.
Suggested Characteristics
Vessari society values stoicism, lawfulness, and practicality. Many who flee from there still hold to those ideals, but others take full advantage of their newfound freedom and live their lives in the complete opposite way. A few still suffer from the scars that living in Vessar inflicted on them.
