Accursed Outlier Image

You are an outcast from your village / city.  Your family has abandoned you long ago, and you were forced to live on the streets and on the extreme fringe of society.

Shunned either by your families disgrace or your own, you can't escape the prison of being who you are. Perhaps that is why you eventually struck out into the world, on your own. To escape the stain left on you by all who knew you.  Perhaps it was simply the lack of resources and opportunity.  But soon enough you found yourself in the big city where your skills of surviving on the fringes, was not only useful to yourself, but an asset to your new infrequent employers who seem to be as slow to trust you as you are to trust them.

Your scavenging skills and petty theft are some of the skills you needed to survive.  Comfortable alone, and highly suspicious of the motivations of others, you have few friends. Loyalty is more precious to you than life blood, and blood itself is not necessarily thicker than water.  Your struggle has been harder than most, as you had to survive first in the forests around your village, and utterly without friend or ally.

You have learned to con, hide and even harm others without debate if the need presents itself.  Yet you internally long for peace that never seems to come.

You struggle with confidence, and yet have certitude about your ability to survive, whatever the conditions or costs.

Your quiet demeanor is a fragile cap on a well of rage.  Yet, there is one whom you have trust in besides yourself, but that person is far off in a distant past, and not withing reach, if even alive at all.

Suggested Characteristics

Criminals might seem like villains on the surface, and many of them are villainous to the core. But some have an abundance of endearing, if not redeeming, characteristics. There might be honor among thieves, but criminals rarely show any respect for law or authority.

Variant Accursed Outlier: Spy

Although your capabilities are not much different from those of a burglar or smuggler, you learned and practiced them in a very different context: as an espionage agent. You might have been an officially sanctioned agent of the crown, or perhaps you sold the secrets you uncovered to the highest bidder.
