You were part of a gang in The River or elsewhere. Whether you joined for protection or actually got your hands dirty the reputation that follows your gang lasts for life. Living in a gang brings many friends but just as many enemies. You learned to talk your way into and out of any situation.

Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Intimidation
Tool Proficiencies: Thieves’ Tools
Languages: One of your choice
Equipment: A mark of insignia, a set of common clothes that bares your gang affiliation. A pouch holding 15 gp.

Duty and Desertion:

Everyone in a gang pulls their weight, whether or not they want to do criminal acts. Depending on your ability you may have had a job only on the surface of gang activity, or been plunged deep into it. Secondly, not all gangs take kindly to members leaving; look at how your gang views its members to determine if you left peacefully. You can work with your DM to determine how involved with your gang you were before you left. Did you leave peacefully or leave open wounds? Alternatively you can choose to roll on the table below to choose your job.

d8 Duty and Desertion:
1 I was a bruiser protecting important meetings and people.
2 I was an information gatherer doing simple jobs for the gang with an open ear for gosip.
3 I was a courier moving information and items to important people and places.
4 I was an enforcer making sure those who haven't paid their debts pay with something.
5 I was a manager running gang operations.
6 I was a brute responsible for fighting other gangs for territory.
7 I was a recruiter indoctrinating new members to the gang.
8 I was a leader responsible for many gang operations and high in the order.

Feature: Reputation

Though you no longer affiliate yourself with your gang your reputation with them holds power to those who know about it. Depending on the gang you were apart of you can threaten or manipulate people accordingly. If you were a Coin, you could prey on old debts or convince people that someone was untrustworthy. If you were a Club, your threats carry more weight if the person you're threatening believes you have a gaggle of members nearby waiting to beat them to a pulp. Your desertion is also important to other gangs and the one you left. If left in a bad way your gang could still be hunting you, and if you were a prominent member to a rival gang others may look to use you. Work with your DM to determine you old gangs methods, how you could use them, and who could be looking for you.
