Chosen at birth and raised by your predecessor, you were always destined to speak for your people. Despite the position of honor your tribe has given you, your title means little to those of a more civilized society. Still, your ancestors guide you, ensuring you will be a voice of wisdom, where ever you may go.

To choose the method of communication, roll a d8, or choose from the options in the table below.
| d8 | Ancestors' Communication Method |
|---|---|
| 1 | I can sometimes hear the voices of my ancestors, when they choose to speak to me. |
| 2 | The faces of my ancestors sometimes appear to me in open flames, warning me of whats to come. |
| 3 | My ancestors sometimes leave crude drawings in the dirt and dust, depicting what lays up ahead. |
| 4 | I have learned how to perform a short ritual used to contact my ancestors for advice. |
| 5 | When danger looms ahead, an ancestor may manifest before me, warning me of danger. |
| 6 | When meditating, I can "sit in" on conversations my ancestors are having. |
| 7 | When I am in need, one of my ancestors may manifest, and offer help. |
| 8 | When in need, I may recieve a vague hint that could lead me to the answer I need. |
As a Shaman, the spirits of your ancestors and predecessors will occasionally offer you advice. The method in which they communicate with you can be varied, or a specific event. The advice offered to you is often warnings of danger ahead, or unforseen challenges.
Suggested Characteristics
Shamans tend to be odd, often not understanding more civilized ideas. However, they can be relied on to bring much needed wisdom to most any topic, and to be fiercely loyal to those they trust.
| d8 | Personality Trait |
|---|---|
| 1 | I often speak in vague metaphors, instead of giving a straight answer. |
| 2 | Anything involving the world outside my tribe excites me to no end. |
| 3 | I have odd customs from my tribe that I still practice regularly. |
| 4 | I do not fully grasp civilized concepts, such as money or manners. |
| 5 | I have eating habits that may be considered "unorthodox" by more civilized folk. |
| 6 | I have an animal companion that some consider odd or dangerous. |
| 7 | If asked, I'm happy to tell stories of my tribe's history. |
| 8 | When others are talking, I prefer to hang back and listen, rather then join the conversation. |
| d6 | Ideal |
|---|---|
| 1 | Understanding. Knowledge of those living beyond our tribe's borders can only serve to better the tribe. (Good) |
| 2 | Respect. Those who do not threaten the tribe are not treated as enemies. (Lawful) |
| 3 | Devotion. The tribe must be protected and kept happy, no matter what it costs. (Chaotic) |
| 4 | Zenophobia. Those who are not among the tribe cannot be trusted, and those who cannot be trusted must be purged. (Evil) |
| 5 | People. My tribe is the only thing I care about. If my people are happy, I am happy. (Neutral) |
| 6 | Journey. For the good of my tribe, I must venture out. (Any) |
| d6 | Bond |
|---|---|
| 1 | Abandoned by my tribe, I seek a new life in the world beyond the border. |
| 2 | I stand by the leader of the tribe. We are two sides of the same coin. |
| 3 | Having been forbidden from love by my tribe, I now seek to find and experience it. |
| 4 | I am loyal to my people. Threats and disrespect against them are threats and disrespect against me. |
| 5 | I am starting to get old, and it is my responsibility to raise the one who will succeed me. |
| 6 | The current chieften is corrupt and will not hear me. I must seek out someone who will overthrow him and restore order. |
| d6 | Flaw |
|---|---|
| 1 | As my leader, whatever the chieftan says, goes. |
| 2 | My ancestors have abandoned me. I now spin false predictions to try and keep my people happy. |
| 3 | The way of my people is obviously the correct way to do things. |
| 4 | As the shaman, my wisdom is absolute. Any who question me are incorrect and disrespectful. |
| 5 | I have become addicted to something from the outside world. |
| 6 | I do not like being relied upon for giving wisdom. What if I get something wrong? |
While functionally similar to a Shaman, a Cult Leader often times has much darker intent. A Cult Leader will choose themselves to speak for their people, and will actively manipulate those who choose to follow them. Cult Leaders will represent darker entities, or occasionally, be lying about being backed by a higher power.
As a Cult Leader, you can choose to allow one of your followers to accompany you on your journeys. This follower acts as an additional player character you control, but with the set stats of a commoner. Additionally, you gain the ability to convince commoners to join your following, if you pass three Charisma checks, all with a score to beat of 15.
