Unlike most other Rangers, wilderness survival never came naturally to you. While others would isolate themselves for weeks at a time, hunting down elusive prey, you were more likely to be found relaxing in the tavern, entertaining others with over-inflated stories of your grandiose accomplishments. This is not to imply you are unskilled as an archer or a melee combatant, but your victories came more often through sheer luck, or being in the right place at the right time, rather than any actual planning on your part. Were you a dropout of the Ranger Academy? Perhaps you achieved a miraculous feat in your past, and have been retelling the story for years? Most Urban Rangers don't consciously choose to take on a dangerous life of adventuring, but rather find themselves caught up in situations they never expected to be in.

Epic Moment
Urban Rangers generally have a favorite accomplishment they like to brag about in stories. Choose an epic moment for your character, or roll on the table below.

Epic Moment |
1
You landed the killing blow on a cyclops after your arrow ricocheted of a nearby rock and struck it in the eye.
2
You once negotiated the peace between two opposing nations purely by accident. You were just trying to get directions in a non-native language you barely speak.
3
You once broke into a highly guarded arcane sanctum by guessing the password.
4
You once tripped on a boulder while ascending a mountain. This caused a rock slide below you, wiping out the opposing army you were sent to scout.
5
You discovered an unknown cache of treasure whiling reading a fake treasure map upside down.
6
A prank you set up went horribly wrong and you ended up slaying a goblin warlord who had been terrorizing the local town.

Feature: Did he just...?
Things have a tendency of working out in your favor. As a result, you can get away brash or foolish actions that others normally could not. When you perform any action which would negatively impact the social status of your character, your brashness can sometimes grant an unexpected, or even favorable outcome. For example, when you openly call the king "short and fat", he might end up laughing it off, rather than throwing you in the dungeon. Work closely with your DM to determine what actions are and are not acceptable under this feature. Remember, your DM has the final ruling!
Suggested Characteristics
The Urban Ranger makes most of their choices by asking themselves the following question, "Will this make a good story?" An adventurer's life is never dull, but Urban Rangers have the tendency to make exciting choices, which may or may not be the most logical ones. Maybe you stood your ground staring down Demogorgon, as the rest of your party rushes to escape. Deep down, Urban Rangers have the confidence (possibly overconfidence) to assume that things will tend to work out for them. Somehow, they're usually right.
