You are the surviving child of a sufferer of Serpent Blight. That you are old enough to become an adventurer means your mother is more than likely dead, as sufferers do not typically live longer than 4-10 years at the best of times. Your father may have been infected as well or may be widowed and even remarried. You grew up under constant surveillance in one of the government funded shelters for the Blight infected.
You might have been born near Mt Leyhathe, and subsequently used for your innate connection with the serpents to detect burrows for the soldiers that regularly sweep the area around the mountain for Serpent incursions. The constant whispering of the Worms and Critters under your feet are a constant companion, and you'll find if you listen long enough you can learn their deep, ancient language.
- Skill Proficiencies: Intimidation, Stealth
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan’s tools
- Languages: You know Primordial
- Equipment: A Scholar's Pack or a Dungeoneer's Pack, a set of fine clothes, and one keepsake from your parents
Your Clothes are woven with a badge marking you out as a child of a Blight sufferer. You are not allowed to remove these identifying badges on pain of death. Commoners will avoid dealing with you if possible and may even refuse you service. Soldiers, guild artisans, and nobles who will have more education and familiarity with your kind will be more trusting and welcoming, and you may even gain access to high status individuals by dint of your intrigue. You are able to purchase items from military, government, and artisan sources at a discount due to government funding and you always have a place to stay with other victims and children of the Blight.
Suggested Characteristics
