Studious by nature, you made the most of your youth by acquiring extra languages. Due to the language acquisitions made in your youth, you find it easier than most to learn new languages. Highly sought after by Lords, and Villains alike, consider how your character utilized these skills in their youth.

Note: The dialects of different languages count as separate languages. For example, while Ignan, Aquan, Auran, and Terran are dialects of Primordial, each must be learned seperately

Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Persuasion in all of your known languages, and Intimidation, Deception, and Performance checks in any of your known languages EXCEPT for common.
Tool Proficiencies: You gain proficiency with forgery kits.
Languages: You learn three additional languages of your choice

Feature: Acquire Written Language

Should you come across a text in a language you're unfamiliar with, you can spend a long rest attempting to decipher it. Make an Intelligence check at disadvantage versus a DC of your DMs choice. On a success, you gain the ability to read and write in that language but not the ability to speak or comprehend the spoken form of that language.  You can only know one language at a time this way. If you attempt to learn a second language, the new language overwrites your knowledge of the previous language.

Suggested Characteristics

Polyglots are defined by their intelligence. Wizards are natural linguists, often having to decipher numerous magical texts in Exotic languages in order to acquire new spells. Otherwise, most non magic users tend to learn the languages favored by nearby cultures.

Variant Feature: Acquire Spoken Language

When you spend at least a week among a culture who uses a language you do not speak, you can spend 1d8 days learning their language. Additionally, this process costs you 8gp per day for note taking supplies and reference. Afterwards you gain the ability to speak, comprehend, read and write this language. You gain Proficiency in Persuasion checks in this language, but not in Intimidation, Deception, or Performance checks made in this language.

You cannot learn multiple languages this way. Any attempt to learn a second language using this feature overwrites the first language and takes an additional 1d4 days, and 8gp per day.
