As a child, you were left out when the other children played. You were always different, though it took you some time to understand why. It may have been your lineage, your social status, your species, or something else. You stopped trying to join in, but they never stopped teasing you. You would always be an outsider.
Eventually you left the playing grounds and turned elsewhere: to the woods. The animals became your new friends. You found acceptance among the beasts.

You tend to get on with animals, and can transfer basic ideas and emotions to them. If the creature is willing, it could attempt to get help or contact someone as best it can, but it may not fully understand you or get its meaning across when it finds a person. Even animals that are hostile by nature will approach with caution, but may not attack on sight.
Suggested Characteristics
A child with this background should be extremely resilient. Being cast out, while painful, will motivate them to do great things in the future.

When travelling through fields and forest, you remember the land and plants around you. Therefore you find it easiest to get comfy and find food from the land to help you survive. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek about the land is common knowledge or has new species of animal and plant you have yet to come across. It might take time to learn everything despite you ever growing knowledge.
