Miner Image

You've been working in the mines for most of your life, searching for prized ores or gems in the dark bellies of the earth. You are no stranger to dwarves and deep gnomes, who also mine the deeps, and you're quite familiar with many of the mysteries of the underdark, even if you have or have not encountered them. At this point, you're just as comfortable working underground as above; perhaps even more-so. Unfortunately, working in the mines is often a matter of luck, and your work has become unreliable. Perhaps the mine wasn't yielding enough and you need better work, or maybe you never wanted to work there in the first place. For whatever reason, you have left the mines to become an adventurer, leaving the dark of the deeps for the light of a, hopefully, brighter future.

d8 Origin
1 You were a slave working for a harsh master.
2 Your father was a miner, your grandfather was a miner, and your grandfather's grandfather was a miner, so you were too.
3 You lived in a mining town and there were few alternatives.
4 You enjoy challenging jobs that push you to your limits.
5 You have a passion for geology and the earth and enjoy being close to it.

You are used to navigating the deep places of the earth. You never get lost in caves or mines if you have either seen an accurate map of them or have been through them before. Furthermore, you are able to scrounge fresh water and food for yourself and as many as five other people each day if you are in a mine or natural caves.

Suggested Characteristics

Among the gruffer crowd, miners work more and rarely have time for social affairs. They tend to sit and talk with their own, but they're not afraid to step in if some unsavory folk show up. A town of miners is a town that won't go down without a fight.
