Plane Ripper Image

You've always had a knack for getting into places you shouldn't be.  In your adolescence, you would sneak into archives, graveyards, monuments, and the like.  Not because you wanted to steal anything, just simply because you could.  As such, you also gain quite the reputation for fleeing authority.  In your adult life you performed a number of jobs to provide for yourself, perhaps mercenary work or a local tradesman, but all that changed once you came into the possession of a rare artifact, a Planar Key.  With this device you were able to infiltrate into other worlds entirely. Maybe you used this ability to see and experience things no one from your plane has ever seen, perhaps you have used this device to transport goods covertly across borders using other planes as a conduit, or is it possible you have made a living as a spy who can get into places no one else can?  Regardless of your motivations, as long as you have the key, you have the power to go wherever your heart desires.

Skill Proficiencies: Investigation, Survival
Languages: Two of your choice
Equipment: A grappling hookclimber's kit, a set of traveler's clothes, a Planar Key, and a pouch containing 10 gp.

Feature: Planar Key

After spending the time to learn the finer points of how the ancient artifact known as the Planar Key works, you have unlocked it's secrets.  Once per long rest you may use the planar key to attempt to locate a weak point between the plane you are on and an adjacent one.  The key will give you the general direction of the nearest weak point if you are not currently in close proximity to one.  Once within proximity of a weak point, you may spend ten minutes to activate the Planar Key and tear open rift between the planes roughly five feet wide and seven feet high.  Once the Key has been used to create a rift, another rift cannot be opened for three days.

Suggested Characteristics

To those that traverse between planes, with little disregard to the ramifications that come with creating rips in the reality between worlds, clearly regard their own personal freedom above all else.  The worlds they visit vary wildly, and as such Plane Rippers are acclimated to surviving in any number of harsh climates. Understanding they always have a way out of a situation, Plane Rippers are not afraid to take risks and when the heat is on, they won't hesitate to simply jump to another plane and wait for things to cool down.
