Smithing Specialty

Smithing is an incredibly specialized field and there are lots of different materials that require the special skill set that comes with smithing to be pliable enough to be usable. What kind of smith you are will determine your tool proficiency. Work with your DM to determine the nature of your smithing specialty. You can select your smithing specialty from the Smithing Specialty table or roll randomly.

d4 Smithing Specialty
1 Bladesmith - knives, swords, daggers and other blades (Smith's Tools)
2 Gunsmith - a person who repairs, modifies, designs, or builds firearms (Tinker's Tools)
3 Locksmith - a traditional trade that involves work with locks (Thieves' Tools)
4 Blacksmith or ironsmith - a metalsmith who creates objects from wrought iron or steel (Smith's Tools)

Feature: Smithcunning

The kind of smith you are determines what kind of material you're used to working with. Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to the origin of the metalwork you specialize in, you are considered proficient in the History skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.
