You woke up in an Alchemist's cloning vat. For what purpose you were created you do not know, but you do have some knowledge that is are innate to you. Whether you were intended to be a laborer, soldier, or some wizard's backup clone is irrelevant- you are now a sentient being who answers only to your own conscience.

If you start the game immediately after you wake up, start with nothing else. Otherwise, you loot the following from the unattended Alchemist's Lab:
One additional gothic trinket, a scholar's pack, and a surgical scalpel.
Most people of your apparent age have some kind of past, and while you might have memories you are never sure if they were real or not.
Upon character creation, choose another Background's Feature. Your Feature is effectively that of the chosen Background's Feature. In cases where that Background's Feature requires recognition by NPCs, the extent to which this Feature mimics the chosen Feature is subject to the DM's approval.
After spending a sufficient time surrounded by the defining traits of another Background, you may attempt to convince yourself that you were always of that Background.
Once per year, you may roll a Wisdom saving throw with a DC of 10. On a success, you may change your Background's Feature. The DC of this Feature increases by 2 each time you successfully apply it.
Suggested Characteristics
The characteristics of a clone can be almost anything. Use the Suggested Characteristics of the Background chosen by Malleable Past.
