You were a slave for most of your life. Weather by Volkscarab or other races much of your life has been intense labor. You’ve seen many good people die at the hands of slavers, and many more unspeakable acts. You’ve lived through the worst treatment possible by a society and its scars, both physical and mental still take hold of you.
- Skill Proficiencies: Pick two from Animal Handling, Athletics, Performance, Religion, and Slight of Hand

- Equipment: A small pouch containing 2 gp and a memento.
All slaves have labor to do. Sometimes the job one does is unique to their skills or abilities, but most times a slave master will have them do anything even if the person has no skills in the task. The labor you get might influence the skills you learned as a slave.

You bear an unremovable mark of a slave. Many slave marks are akin to branding put on easily seen body parts like arms, backs, and legs. To some you are a bounty waiting to be returned to you masters, and others strive to protect you at all costs. Those who are willing to hunt you down know that bringing in an escaped slave is worth a fortune to the right people and will hunt you endlessly. Equally those who are willing to protect you show the same determination going so far as to risk their lives to keep you away from your slavers.
Suggested Characteristics
An important thing to remember is that before anyone is forced into slavery they are a person first. It is this difference between the person they were and the person they have been forced to be that makes every former slave. Whether they revert back to their submissive state or try to regain the humanity taken from them it shapes how the character will act.
