Not all who learn arcane secrets intend to achieve something inherently good or evil. Some people use magic in a smudgy way, to get an advantage over others. Maybe this silver coin was copper back in your pocket? Can this suspicious guy on the funfair actually be this good at the shell game despite the opposing gambler being a well known trickster? This doesn't make you a bad person per se, you simply know when to fawn and when to con.

You don’t want to hurt people or get them into dangerous situations. You just want to improve your lifestyle a little bit. Those who don’t know your aces up your sleeve do find you charming and admire your noble deeds you’re proclaiming because from time to time you feel responsible for the simple folk around you – even though they could never comprehend your arcane intellect.

In a conversation others will either consider you to be charming or not quite tangible, depending on what you're aiming at with this talk. You can feel the needs and wishes around you aswell as the optimal way for your own goals. Despite your trickery, you rarely have intentions to seriously harm civilians in any way. Those who don’t like you will call you out for being selfish and treacherous. Although this might be the case for some degree, there is also a will to protect the helpless.
Most Enchantingly Scalawags are Chaotic Neutral. Some of them have a tendency to Chaotic Good, depending on the individual. Does your small criminal vein still determines your decisions when real heroism is required? Or does your brave heart prevail?
