You were once one of the 20,000 or so humanoids that are held in bondage by the Drow of Menzoberranzan.
Whatever the circumstances that led to your servitude, you were forced into labor side-by-side with humans, goblins, kobolds, orcs, bugbears, ogres, snirfneblin, minotaurs, trolls, tieflings, and occasionally even duergar or illithids.
The first weeks you hoped to stay alive. As the weeks turned into months, and the torture continued you began to pray for death.
Finally, in a moment of opportunity, fueled by the desperation to escape, you seized your freedom and escaped from the grasp of the Drow. Your life is now your own, but the scars will always remain.
- Skill Proficiencies: You learned quickly that a keen eye and an unreadable face was the only way to survive the Drow. You gain proficiency in the Deception and Perception skills.
- Languages:
During your time in servitude, you picked your the tongue of your Drow masters, as well as some of the speech of your fellow slaves.
You learn Undercommon, and one language of your choice from the following: Goblin, Draconic, Orc, Deep Speech, Dwarvish, Minotaur, Giant, Gnomish.
The knowledge gained during your time in bondage lets you gain insight into local guards and jailors. You know which will accept bribes, or look the other way for you. You can also seek shelter for yourself from authorities with other criminals in the area.
Suggested Characteristics
Some who escape the horrors of slavery in Menzoberranzan sympathize with other victims of oppression and tyranny, while others have truly taken the lessons their Drow slavemasters taught them to heart. Some simply weren’t decent folk before their capture, and servitude did little to change that.
