Denounced Noble

There was a reason for your denunciation. When rolling randomly, the result isn't necessarily the truth; it could be the fact of the matter, but it could also be a lie propagated by another party, or an honest misunderstanding. Whatever the reality of the situation, consider your result as the official reason for the loss of your title.

Your lost title still holds some weight in communities. You have a general knowledge of the hierarchy of different families and organizations in power in any given area, and an understanding of who to talk to in order to get an audience with the rich or powerful. At your DM's discretion, this could either be due to them having no knowledge of your castigation, being curious of what an ex-noble would have to say, or for the amusement of seeing somebody who had power, then lost it all.

This variant Denounced Noble has not only lost his titles, but has been banished from the lands they used to hold influence in. Whether it was deserving or not, your name has been besmirched, and you dare not show your face in your old circles, else risk being driven away, if not killed. When taking this variant, replace the Old Connections background feature with that of Lay Low.

Your situation as caused you to become acquainted with a network of safehouses who are willing to help you out of tight situations. While in a particular town, city, or other similarly sized community (DM’s discretion), you and your companions can stay for free in safe houses. Safe houses provide a poor lifestyle. While staying at a safe house, you can choose to keep your presence (and that of your companions) a secret.
