You know how to play people like a fiddle. You know how to gain their trust, their love and most importantly, their money. You have manipulated your way into the lives of many people in the past and you have done so with the intent to take full advantage of their trust and generosity. You have broken hearts and wallets with your methodical confidence trickery. Be it a small trick or a long con taking that which belongs to others has always been your life, and your art.
- Skill Proficiencies: Persuasion, Sleight of Hand
- Tool Proficiencies: Disguise kit
- Equipment: A Double Headed Coin, the favor of a previous mark (love letter, lock of hair, or trinket), a set of fine clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp
Feature: Silver Tongue
Your way with words means that people take a liking to you, after a small conversation they will be inclined to trust you as a friend. You will find it easy to convince people to gift you with food and drink. You will also find it much easier to gather gossip and rumors from strangers. Your adaptable nature will allow you to easily fit in with most social situations, allowing you to intuit social traditions and forsee embarrassing faux pas
Suggested Characteristics
A con artist must always look the part, therefore they tend to take great pride in their appearance, this makes them seem quite vain. The nature of their work often leads them to become quite jaded to the feelings of others, in fact, some revel in their manipulations of peoples emotions

Posted Jan 2, 2020I really like this, it's an interesting background for people that take the Charisma/Deception route.
If I was to play a Con Artist character I'd probably try playing it so that the character's flaw is that they're acting this way unintentionally. It's so ingrained in their day to day life that they're almost oblivious to the fact that in almost every conversation and interact they're selfishly conning someone.
