Perhaps a disaster left you scarred or a failure cost you a piece of yourself, no matter how at some point in your life you lost a (or the function of a) part of your body. Not content to live the rest of your days disabled you either studied the arcane, or employed the services of someone who has, in order to create a magicaly powered replacment.
- Skill Proficiencies: Skill Proficiencies: Arcana, Medicine (this reflects the knowledge required to maintain and use the augment)
- Tool Proficiencies: Tool Proficiencies: Tinker's tools
- Languages: Languages: Deep speech (the use of an augment of this nature requires knowledge of this language to understand and control the magic within)
- Equipment: Equipment: altered sages robes, an amulet or ring displaying the sigil/emblem of the organization you employed or studied under, the augment of your choice, a pouch containing 15gp
At some point in the past, you have lost function to a part of yourself, but through the study of the arcane (or the help of those who have already done so) you have replaced it with a magicaly powered replacement. This augment functions as if it were the normal body part however anti-magic fields will disable the augment. Your DM decides how societies react to your augmentation, they may be curious and inquisitive or believe you to be a heretical abomination.

Characteristics should follow that of your class and character motivations

Thank you for sharing this. Like a prosthetic or a cosmetic correction it seems. This could apply to a huge variety of classes - an accident prone apprentice, a caught thief who lost a hand for stealing or maybe a facial injury destroying part of your jaw and this masks that? So many things to do with this. Great idea!
