Laconians earn their citizenship by proving themselves as good people and followers of the tenets of our people. You have been sent from your home to earn your feathers and must accomplish three great feats of bravery, heroism, and glory. Laconians are, as a people, seen as brave and heroic and are thus welcome where they go, even among nobles though they generally eschew nobles viewing them as entitled and weak.
You are now on your Agoge Quest to become a full citizen of Laconia. It will take all of your skills and training to accomplish this but when you do you will finally be permitted to return home. You must hold back the tides of savages, rescue hostages, or whatever great glorious deed you can take. Many grow restless as they complete each task, becoming more and more anxious to finish all. The one major stipulation is that Laconians are forbidden to surrender or retreat unless it is part of a tactic or maneuver, honor-bound to use all the wit at their disposal. Naturally part of your quest is to learn, and that includes developing proficiency in a variety of skills and probably, more importantly, providing real-world testing for new technologies developed by yourself and the government.
Honorbound and righteous (by Laconian standards) you live by an oath while you are out on the Agoge, you may never surrender. In addition, you are to be an ambassador for the Laconian people, demonstrating the greatness of your people, this often comes in the form of your people's terse sense of humor as well as defending the honor of your people against any insult. Common people find themselves respect you heavily partly out of fear and partly out of awe, and will very often acquiesce to requests.
