While wasting away, you did manage to make some friends of higher status in the shadows of town. You'll be able to keep in touch with this friend on your release/escape and ask them for small favors like obtaining small goods or convincing guards to look the other way... for a price of course. However, they only have this power in the town you've been imprisoned in and most likely can't do much for you outside of it.
