Monster Hunter's Guild Image

You are a member of the Monster Hunter's Guild. You can track down the whereabouts of a Guild representative in most major cities for details of anything going on in the area, get information on any possible contracts,  and to purchase tools and equipment for the next hunt. There is no regulation on these representatives and often times they expect a "tip" before they give any information. The Monster Hunter's Guild is not the most well respected faction in Faerûn and many people view members as greedy and disreputable. Most members would sooner stab the back of a "fellow member" on a hunt to claim the contract and glory than work together. One thing is for certain however, when you hire a Monster Hunter, the contract will be fulfilled. If several Hunters are killed on a specific contract, "The Guild" will notify representatives and start to offer its own reward for fulfillment, often times doubling or tripling the original reward until a Hunter skilled enough takes on the contract and sees it through. Any reward not directly provided by "The Guild" will have a 15% contract fee that must be paid by the contractor upon receiving their reward, this is sent via magical means found at each guild representatives establishment and must be sent with the signed contract listing. Shorting "The Guild" of their dues can have disastrous consequences, and even the most hardened Hunter wouldn't think of doing so or risk having a contract opened against them. There is a deep respect between Hunters, and only the dirtiest would think of meddling with a Hunter after they have completed a contract, however before completion, anything is free game.

The term "monster" is used to describe all queries but can actually range from monstrosities and beasts, to demonic entities and other worldly beings. Contracts can not be opened on humanoid beings or undead humanoid beings as they are not within the "scope" of the guilds targets (though other undead creatures are fair game). When a member steps out of line, a betrayal contract will be opened on a hunter, deeming them a traitor of the guild, their guild mark will be magically branded on their body and traceable via magic. These contracts are typically picked up by people who call themselves "Adjudicator's", hunters who take it upon themselves to typically only accepting betrayal contracts. Guild Hunter's are NOT bounty hunters despite what they do, and their scope does not include criminals (Often commoners view hunters as lowly bounty hunters and will call them as such as an insult).

Guild Ranks do not provide any practical benefits to guild members, serving as a status symbol for intimidation factor between members. Very rarely, a guild sponsored contract will have a rank requirement. Some guild representatives take it upon themselves to only serving certain ranks or withholding some of their services to lower ranked members.

Ranks from lowest to highest are as follows:

Copper (Initiated but haven't completed a contract yet)

Iron (Have completed their first contract)

Bronze (Have completed 1,000gp worth of contracts)

Steel (Have completed 5,000gp worth of contracts)

Silver (Have completed 12,000gp worth of contracts)

Electrum (Have completed 20,000gp worth of contracts)

Gold (Have completed 30,000gp worth of contracts)

Mithral (Have completed 75,000gp worth of contracts)

Adamantine (Have completed 200,000gp worth of contracts)

Platinum (Have completed 500,000gp worth of contracts)

Skill Proficiencies: Two skills of your choice, as appropriate to your style of hunting.
Tool Proficiencies: Two tools of your choice, as appropriate to your style of hunting.
Equipment: Monster Hunter's Mark.

A badge to be pinned on a cloak, worn as a necklace, or worn as a signet ring, depicting the Monster Hunter Guild Emblem. This mark provides all the benefits of the Monster Hunter's Guild and functions as an official seal on contract fulfillment. The material of the mark depicts the rank of the individual, however rank is more of a status symbol, not providing much benefit besides intimidation factor against other guild members. Rarely a Guild sponsored contract will have a rank requirement. Some guild representatives take it upon themselves to only serving certain ranks or withholding some of their services to lower ranked members.

The mark will convert to a magically traceable brand on a hunter's body if a contract is broken or they are marked as a traitor. This brand is called the mark of the betrayer and soon a betrayal contract will be opened by the guild to deal with the delinquent ex-hunter.

Feature: Guild Representative

You can track down the whereabouts of a Guild representative in most major cities for details of anything going on in the area, get information on any possible contracts,  and to purchase tools and equipment for the next hunt. There is no regulation on these representatives and often times they expect a "tip" before they give any information. These representatives will be setup in an establishment containing the necessary magical means to submit fulfilled contracts along with their required dues.
