You an undead, given new life in the form of the body of a former hero combined with an undead monster by a lord of the dead. While you may just be a shade of your past self, you cherish the new life that you were given, but you also feel as though you must continually earn it.
- Skill Proficiencies: You are proficient in the Intimidation skill.
- Languages: You can read, write, and speak Infernal.
- Equipment: You get a tattered set of common clothes, a Potion of Gaseous Form, a ring with a small black jewel that represents your tie back to the world of the dead (and, as such, you cannot sell it), and 5 GP.
Choose an Undead creature from the list below, or roll using the table. The creature you are influenced by determines your ability.
d4 | Undead Type |
---|---|
1 | Banshee |
2 | Shadow |
3 | Specter |
4 | Zombie |
Your type of Undead creature determines your ability. In addition, apply all given modifiers of the creature you roll to your Ability Score of that modifier.
Banshee: You can magically sense creatures of Medium size or larger in a 3-mile radius. Modifiers: -2 Strength, +2 Charisma
Shadow: You can use Hide as a Bonus Action if you are in dim or dark lighting. Modifiers: +2 Dexterity, -2 Intelligence
Specter: You have resistance to Piercing, Slashing, and Bludgeoning damage. Modifiers: -2 Strength, +2 Dexterity
Zombie: If you are reduced to 0 HP, role a d4. If you roll a 4, you are only reduced to 1 HP instead. Modifiers: +2 Strength, -2 Charisma
Suggested Characteristics
As an undead creature in the service of a lord of death, you generally will lean more towards Chaotic. In addition, you lean more towards the alignment of the hero you once were/now are.
You are the spirit of a former hero, reduced to a semi-corporeal spirit form that has been given a second chance at life by a lord of the dead.
Whenever you are attacked with Piercing, Slashing, or Bludgeoning damage, roll a d4. If you roll a 3, take no damage from that attack. If you roll a 4, then you take no damage, and the attacker's next attack is with Disadvantage.
