Assassins are people that only kill bounties and give most mercenary guilds a bad name. Mercenaries do all sorts of jobs as long as they are allowed and that the person is a sanctioned client and not an unknown character, and mercenaries also much have the proper certification for mission rankings with a red icosahedron (D20) being the highest rank. Every mercenary has an insignia that is stylized and somewhere on their personage.

Skill Proficiencies: Mercenaries have a varying set of skills ranging from stealth to hide from those threats that are extremely hard to beat to investigation to find minutiae that may reveal details about their job to arcana in order to identify a type of magic used.

Skill Proficiencies: Investigation, Nature, Insight, Perception, Survival, Deception, Intimidation, Persuasion, Arcana

Tool Proficiencies: Mercenaries are proficient with a multitude of kits ranging from Calligrapher's tools to create a mark to a disguise kit in order to hide their face from law bringers. Most mercenaries have also specialize their tool kit to be representative of their level of skill.
Languages: Mercenaries are taught languages by a skilled member of the guild and can learn in game time or down time.

Equipment: All mercenaries are a personalized kit and an insignia denoting what they do and how they operate in the mercenary guild. Everything else comes personally out of their pouch with discounts being applied to their purchases if the shopkeep has connections with the mercenary guild.

Kits: A dungeoneering kit, a poisoner's kit, a forging kit, a disguise kit

Weaponry: A martial weapon or two simple weapons

Mercenary

Mercenaries are men and women that are willing to do anything as long as it does not defy their honor code or their guild rules. They are extremely skilled and most have odd vices to deal with the stress of being a mercenary and an adventurer, and are extremely simple with their desires or beliefs. They also have classifications to show the mercenary's area of expertise.

Mercenary Skill Level: Rookie (E) - Amateur (D) - Experienced (C) - Expert (B) - Master (A) - Legendary (1 Star to 5 Star) - Guild master (Red Icosahedron)

Classifications: Brute and Warrior (Close-Range Mercenaries)/ Protectors and Scouters (Group attachment focusing on keeping track of clients and land)/ Justicars and Bloodbringers (Assassination and Execution)/ Hunters (Long Range Mercenaries capable of easily picking off prey)/ Black Sheep (A skillset that you are both famous and infamous for)/ "Insurance" (Mercenaries dealing with clientele)/ Upkeep (mercenaries that keep headquarters and outposts running)

d10 Mercenary
1 For Hire - You are a mercenary in a the guild only for the money. You could care less for the morals or for the fame. You are most likely paying or debt or have been poor in your younger years and wish to make a change. These are non-classified.
2 Revenge - You have been wronged by someone and the mercenary guilds are the best way to get back at them. You are usually classed as a justicar or a bloodbringer which are more focused on assassinations or executions.
3 Wanderlust - You have been stuck in one place for most of your life and are tired of it. You have struck out with the mercenary guilds. You are a classified as protectors and scouters which are a mix of tracking and bodyguard duties.
4 Hunter - You live for the thrill of the hunt and the guild recruited you to be assassins or beast hunters. These classifications are oriented to murder and tracking. They also tend to take longer term jobs in order to bring down their prey.
5 "Insurance" - You are in the guilds for "insurance" which means you keep clientele from backing out and making a mockery of the guild. These types are classified as watchmen or bruisers. Most "insurance" types are favored in the headquarters and outposts.
6 Family Business - You are one of the few families that live in the mercenary guilds. You are favored as elites or maybe you started it up. Most families are held in high regards and use their locations as safe houses in regards to attackers.
7 Battlelust - Hunters live for the hunt, but you live for the battle. Few things scare you and instead excite you. These are the bulk of brute and warrior classifications which are held in high views for sieges and are extremely capable of taking pain.
8 "Black Sheep" - You are the one who is the black sheep of your guild, but they deem you too capable to get rid of and instead you on more missions oriented to your skill set.
9 Legend-Aspirant - You grew up having heard of legendary mercenary bands. You joined the guild in an attempt to achieve that status and turned into a battle-hardened master or may be making your way there with due haste. These mercenaries are also mentors.
10 Natural Curiosity - You live in a town with a newly established mercenary guild. Your natural curiosity has spurred you to join. Your guild master is insanely glad and trusts you as a founding member. You are considered one of the respected lynchpins.
 
Feature: Man with a Skill

Mercenaries are well known for being incredibly skilled in one or more areas and expert mercenaries are masters of certain trades. They have also learned a tool or trade to cover their tracks or focus on the showmanship. They also learn an extra language in order to make sure their client is not breaking the rules.

These quirks help keep mercenaries on point and help them focus on the better aspects with these traits being uncommon with the normal everyday person. Most mercenaries are considered wayward or "a special kind of ****ed up".

1 We are the ones that specialize in this type of business and our rules should be followed.
2 My contracts reflect the kind of person I am which means I stick to the codes.
3 I will not fail my guild and my client and I am willing to do extra in order to save a job.
4 I have learned i my travels in the guild to keep to my code of honor and leave some jobs partially finished.
5 I refuse to be the weak link of the group which means I have to be an all rounder to make up for my weaknesses.
6 I will not hesitate to tell the clientele to be careful as I have had experiences with clients lying and resulting in unnecessary deaths.

1 I have forged a camaraderie with a specific band and we are known to take jobs together.
2 I dedicate myself to the guild enough which means I am well liked by the guild members and the town I work in.
3 I have learned from adventurers and tell new mercenaries and adventurers those tips and tricks in order to ensure survival.
4 I keep a board in the mercenary guild headquarters and keep records of job locations and what to expect. Everyone knows that it is mine and constantly checks it out.
5 I keep a bestiary book and a bounty book on hand in the hopes of maybe bagging a few extra kills and donating that to upgrading the headquarters.
6 I keep track of everyone's record and I am considered the go to guy in order to choose who to work with for jobs.

1 I have long forgotten what a normal life is favoring the mercenary lifestyle which is far more hazardous.
2 My lust for a good fight has changed my the view of the world making me prone to rash decisions.
3 My inexperience nearly killed me and I now have flashbacks to those moments whenever I do something conned to that mistake.
4 I struck out on my own after I had gotten my previous mercenary band killed and I wish to redeem that failure at any costs.
5 I favor my experience over young folks exuberance and so come off as crude and distant to the new recruits.
6 I hyper-analyze a situation and end up seeing variables that are not there and focus too much on those.
 
 
Contacts

These are the people that will keep you safe and will help you complete your jobs. Most of these people are known as the upkeep and are beloved by mercenary guilds as they can routinely keep the headquarters and outposts up and running.

1 Bounty Master - These are the people that constantly keep the bounty board and the bounty book updated.
2 Bartender - These are the ones that keep up with rumors and stock up on vintages.
3 Guild Master - Guild Masters are required to keep check of how the mercenaries are doing overall and will sometimes personally assign missions.
4 Record Keeper - The record keepers make sure that groups can be formed with little hassle and more focused directive. There are two record keepers per mercenary guild.
5 Shop Master - These are the quartermasters of the mercenary guild with a range on items ranging from a copper to a thousand gold. They know every shopkeep that is affiliated with the mercenary guild.
6 Affiliated Shopkeeps - The shopkeeps know the ins and outs of trade and are willing to work with you in exchange for a profit. Most shopkeeps have a specialized marking of the guild that they work with.
 
Variant Mercenary: Bounty Hunter

Bounty Hunters are professional mercenaries that keep track of dangerous or corrupt people and are known as the Black Hand of the Mercenary Guilds and are respected throughout the underworld and are seen as shadowy enforcers. These bounty hunters can range from cruel to precise with their work and generally leave an impact on the underworld if they reach a high enough skill level.

Bounty Hunter Levels: Jumper (Rookie) - Keeper (Amateur) - Watcher (Experienced) - Shadow (Expert) - Wraith (Master) - Forgotten (Legendary) - Remembrance (Guild Master)

 
Variant Feature: Dead or Alive

Most Bounty Hunters are professionals tasked to bring in dangerous bounties "Dead or Alive" and as such are supremely skilled in dealing with the underworld and have a complex knowledge of all underworld systems.

New Skill: Underworld (int) with immediate proficiency.
