July 10th, 2018
Greetings D&D-er's!
After a few days of catching our breaths over the July 4th holiday week, we're back at it! This change-log covers multiple changes and bug fixes that have been deployed over the past few days:
Changes:
Condition descriptions are now available in the character sheet side bar (and there'll be another update soon for managing the levels of exhaustion).
Update to the login system. We have finally been able to make an update to the login mechanism that provides two main benefits. One, being able to select a different Twitch account to log in with, and two, removing the requirement for having third-party cookies enabled. Now, when you log in, you'll be sent to this login page:
The process now uses Twitch's Passport system, and as such you will be redirected to their page to confirm access:
On this page, there is a "Not You" link that you can click to login in with a different Twitch account, and then will be redirected back to D&D Beyond.
Fixes:
- Fixed a bug in copying homebrew spells with additional levels not properly copying modifier information
- Fixed views for subclasses and races to account for soft-deleted features and racial traits.
- Fix issue with viewing spell details in the character sheet for ritual spells
And we've got another round of UI updates coming this week for the character sheet, so stay tuned!
Happy dragon slaying!
Cure Wounds from the Divine Soul Sorcerer Divine Magic feature is still missing the charisma modifier on the healing.
Awesome! Thank you!
I love this tool, the new character sheet is awesome resolved all known issues I had
Minor typo on mobile phone: (Grappled)
Would love to see the possibility to add homebrew conditions and edit notes.
Also, on mobile "Combat" section, if the word "DEFENSES" or "CONDITIONS" could change color when one has an active defense or condition as a reminder to click and see what's active.
Great job!
I'm not sure whether this is a bug, or an intended feature, but when viewing the races on their pages, each of the subraces re-lists the main race benefits, whereas previously it only listed the subrace benefits. It kind of makes the page look a little messy, what with all the repeated text everywhere.
Well done team! Love that the condition descriptions were added!
Is there a reason that the weapons note changed simple weapon to adventure gear? because it doesn't add the proficiency bonus now
Edit: looks like it was fix
Edit: Nevermind! Hex weapon is working perfectly again, don't know what was up with that, but maybe take a look and see why it wouldn't have shown up?
Love the condition update. Question, and I’m not even sure it should be this way, but since some conditions automatically include others (eg. a paralyzed pc is also incapacitated) should the implied condition get set when the causing condition is applied?
We had an issue yesterday that caused all weapon proficiency to not be applied, and hex/pact is based on knowing that information. Once that was fixed, it resolved the UI issues with what you saw. Thanks for letting us know
There is no combat section, and I can’t find where it shows number of attacks per action, anymore.
Same, plus all my characters now show Two Weapon Fighting under Actions.
We are going to put that back in, we are hearing the community feedback on this one. It will be next to the "Actions" header.
That is because all characters can do two-weapon fighting... There is no requirement to use two weapons.
With the latest update we added more "Actions in Combat" to help people understand what is possible during their bonus actions (changelog should be coming soon, we just are super busy this week at the office). We also will show "Dual Wield" attacks in the Bonus Actions section now. This should help players know when they can use those attacks since we now categorize attacks by Action/Bonus Action/Reaction/Other.
And just to reiterate my other reply above, we will be adding back in Attacks per Action.
It might also be useful to list Extra Attack under "Action" rather than "Other" since the information is most relevant whenever I am using an Action to attack.
While that is all well and good, it is confusing to see when my character is equipped with a spear and shield and so cannot two-weapon fight. Is it possible to have "Two-Weapon Fighting" only appear when your character has two light weapons (or two one-handed weapons and Dual Wielder feat) equipped, or maybe only when a weapon is flagged as "Dual Wield"?
Finally, I see that the "Limited Use" section is back, will it be possible to include magic items with charges that don't have spells attached (such as the Ring of the Ram)? Currently a magic item is only included indirectly if it has spells that use charges, it would be nice to have all limited use options regardless of source appear together for easier tracking.
We will eventually be adding items into the limited use section, but for the scope of this update, they weren't added. Thanks for the feedback!
Love the desktop on iPad view, top stuff!
Here’s a very minor oddity; I use Chrome on iPad and on every page I scroll down it goes into a full screen mode except the character sheet. Not exactly a big deal.
Also, under senses for my warlock it says darkvision whereas I have the eldritch invocation Devil’s Sight. I guess this could be changed.
Cheers.
Love hearing everyone is enjoying the updates! I'll have to try out that chrome on ipad tomorrow in office.
And in re: Devil's Sight, the invocation says "You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet.". That means we have the data give you "Darkvision" of 120 ft. Something we could improve in the future is to give sourcing information like we do for armor class, to help you associate Darkvision with the invocation that gave it to you.
But it doesn’t actually give you darkvision. Devils Sight only works in darkness. It does nothing for dim light.
