Base Class: Artificer
Toymakers, jewelers, sculptors, and other craftspeople of lovely baubles all have great artistry and craftsmanship they might add into their works, but the Trinketeer specialization of the Artificer can elevate these concepts into a magical high art, and create stunning and amazing ornaments capable of incredible feats of magic. Making more magical trinkets than other Artificers, crafting amazing illusions into jewels, glass baubles, and toys, then also imbuing some seemingly simple objects with amazing reactionary magics, the Trinketeer is full of surprises and whimsy while still being a very serious specialist. While often underestimated, the Trinketeer is nonetheless one of the most capable Artificers.
Dwarves don't promote this specialization much, but those who do often perform amazing feats of glassblowing and gemcutting. Elves of many kinds do enjoy this field of Artifice, almost as much as Humans and Halflings might. It's the Gnomish folk who are the supposed originators of this specialization, and they supposedly have the largest number of these specialists among their societies. Most other demihuman races don't really have much basis for this form of Artificer, except that Aasimar appreciate beauty in many forms that might include these types of trinkets, and Tieflings might see the deceptive illusion of this specialization as appropriately deceptive to meet their ends.

Extra Tinkering
3rd-level Trinketeer feature
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to make more magical trinkets than other artificers, and your trinkets are capable of some more unique properties than others. You can now make a total number of magical trinkets at one time with your Magical Tinkering feature equal to twice your Intelligence modifier (minimum two).
Additionally, you learn the Minor Illusion cantrip and you can imbue any one effect of your Minor Illusion into a trinket created with your Magical Tinkering feature, in addition to the effect you normally produce in the item using Magical Tinkering.
Beauteous Baubles
5th-level Trinketeer feature
At 5th level, you learn to imbue your trinkets and baubles with beautiful illusions, and you can even make them capable of projecting their illusions outward to create dazzling displays. Whenever you cast an illusion spell of 3rd spell level or less, you can choose to imbue it into a trinket you've made with your Magical Tinkering feature, or your homonculus, if you have one. You expend the spell slot and the action required for the prepared spell while touching the item or homonculus, and you may choose to have that illusion not take effect at that time. Instead, the illusion can take effect when one of the following conditions occurs:
- a creature touches the object or manipulates a specific feature of it (pushes a button, flicks a switch, etc.), as you choose.
- a creature moves within 5 feet of the object.
- the object is damaged in any way.
- your homonculus uses one of its actions at your command on its turn to trigger the illusion spell, with its space being the point of origin or targeting itself.
When the condition you choose occurs, the object or homonculus becomes the origin point for the illusion spell you cast at the time of using this feature. You can choose to have either the object, the homonculus, or the creature who triggers it become the target of the illusion, if the illusion is capable of affecting a creature. For example, you may choose to place a trinket which, when a creature touches it, triggers a Major Image spell, or you may throw a glass trinket which casts Invisibility on the creature it breaks against. If the spell you imbued requires concentration, no matter how far you are from the object, you must maintain your concentration at the time the illusion activates, or the spell fails.
At 15th level, whenever you cast an illusion spell of 5th spell level or less, you may imbue it into a trinket or homonculus using this feature. At this level you may also touch a construct summoned with the Summon Construct spell and imbue it this way, as with your homonculus.
Coveted Keepsake
9th-level Trinketeer feature
At 9th level, you learn to create objects which are highly desirable to most who behold them, and your magic can reinforce this desire in ways that make your goods even more magically alluring, or conversely, magically repulsive. Choose one of your Magical Trinkets, and as an action while you touch it, you can make it possess one of the following qualities:
- The object becomes irresistible to the greedy. Choose any number of creatures within 30 feet that can see you. Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed by you until the spell ends, or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it. While charmed in this way, a creature can do nothing but use its movement to approach you in a safe manner. While an affected creature is within 5 feet of you, it cannot move, but simply stares greedily at the item you present. At the end of each of its turns, an affected target can make a Wisdom saving throw. If it succeeds, this effect ends for that target.
- The object becomes repulsive to most. Choose any number of creatures within 30 feet that can see you. A construct or an undead is immune to this effect. The targets must each succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of the object until the spell ends. The frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
These benefits last for a number of rounds equal to your Intelligence modifier or until you are no longer holding the object, whichever comes first. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus before you must finish a long rest to use it again.
Glamoured Gifts
15th-level Trinketeer feature
At 15th level, you learn the most artistic and appealing ways to alter and change your trinkets and baubles, weaving illusory magic into anything you create while implementing one of your trinkets, and becoming able to make any item look and appear to behave like anything you choose. You can now attach a Magical Trinket you've made onto any weapon, armor, shield, or other piece of gear. This is a one-hour process with the item in question and the Magical Trinket in hand, and you artfully combine the trinket into the item in a way which does not inhibit the function of the item. The item gains the Glamoured property, and can look like a version of any item of its type that you choose. For instance, a sword can be made to look like any other weapon this way, an armor or shield can look like any other armor or shield, tools can look like any other tools, and so on. When you choose the appearance for the item, choose a skill from Deception, Intimidation, Performance, Persuasion, or Stealth. Whenever a creature wears or carries the item, they may add a bonus equal to your Proficiency Bonus to all rolls with the chosen skill. As an action, you can choose what the item will look like and change the illusion, choosing a new one of these skills for the bonus to apply to with the item. A creature trying to determine the reality of the illusion must closely investigate the item using an action to make an Intelligence (Investigation) roll at a DC equal to your spell save DC. If a creature succeeds in this roll, you do not apply the bonus from this feature to any skill rolls affecting that creature.
Additionally, illusion spells you cast are particularly cleverly woven, having a basis in a real, tangible object you utilize. When you cast an illusion spell with an arcane focus, any tools you are proficient with, or one of your Magical Trinkets in hand, any creature who attempts to see through the illusion and determine its reality suffers disadvantage on all such rolls. For example, this does not affect the initial saving throw of illusion spells like Phantasmal Force, but it does affect the Investigation checks creatures make to determine the reality of Major Image spells you cast, and creatures would suffer disadvantage on such rolls.
Lastly, whenever you imbue an illusion spell into a Trinket with your Beauteous Baubles feature, that spell may now be of up to 5th spell level. At this level you may also touch a construct summoned with the Summon Construct spell and imbue it this way, as with your homonculus.
