If technology mimics nature, the Wyrmforger seeks to outfit themselves with the innate might of dragons. Not content with conventional arms, this artificer's specialized cannon harnesses the ruinous powers of the elements. Their branch of engineering is often a topic of controversy - factions employing these artificers use their very threat as a means to defend their borders or intimidate their enemies.

Tool Proficiency

3rd-level Wyrmforger feature

You gain proficiency with smith’s tools. If you already have this proficiency, you can choose to either gain expertise instead or gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice.

Wyrmforger Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Wyrmforger Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Dragon Cannon

3rd-level Wyrmforger feature

Starting 3rd level, you can build your own weapon to replicate the might of dragons. Choose a damage type; acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder. When using the Dragon Cannon to make an attack or using Wyrm's Breath ability, you deal the damage of your chosen damage type. As a bonus action on your turn, you can change the chosen damage type. You may do so a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest, provided you have Smith's Tools in hand. Additionally, you can use your Dragon Cannon as a spellcasting focus for your artificer spells and it counts as a weapon for your Infuse Items feature.

Dragon Cannon. You are proficient with the Dragon Cannon, it counts as a simple ranged weapon for you and has the two-handed property with a normal range of 80 feet and a long range of 320 feet. The Dragon Cannon uses your spell attack modifier for attack rolls, and spellcasting modifier for damage rolls, and deals 2d6 of your chosen damage type on a hit.
This damage increases to 2d8 at 9th level and 2d10 at 15th level.

Wyrm's Breath

3rd-level Wyrmforger feature

Also at 3rd Level, the dragon's breath weapon is one of its most feared assets. Your Dragon Cannon is engineered to unleash a replica called Wyrm's Breath.

Wyrm's Breath (Recharge 5–6). Once per turn as an action, your Dragon Cannon can shoot destructive energy in either a 30ft line that is 5ft wide or a 15ft cone. Each creature caught in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC taking 2d6 damage of the Dragon Cannon's chosen damage type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
This damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 8d6 at 9th level, 12d6 at 12th level, and 16d6 at 15th level. At the start of each of your turns, roll a d6. If the roll is one of the numbers in the recharge notation, you regain the use of Wyrm's Breath ability. The ability also recharges when you finish a short or long rest.

Wyrm Shell

5th-level Wyrmforger feature

At 5th level, you improve your Dragon Cannon to capture the innate magic of Dragonkind. As an action and using a spell slot of first level or higher, you can activate Wyrm Shell to enhance your Dragon Cannon for a duration of 10 minutes. During this time you can cast a cantrip specific to the element of your Dragon Cannon with your action (listed below) and add your intelligence modifier to the damage (minimum 1) (note: this doesn't stack with other class features that increase cantrip damage like Agonizing Blast).
When you cast a Wyrm Shell Cantrip or use your Wyrm's Breath feature, you can make an additional attack with your Dragon Cannon (This feature doesn't stack with the Extra Attack class feature).

Additionally, when you cast an Artificer spell that deals; acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder damage through your Dragon Cannon while Wyrm Shell is active you can change the damage type of that spell to the element of your Dragon Cannon.

Wyrm Shell Cantrips

Acid Cantrip.
You can cast acid splash using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip can now target 3 creatures, provided each is within 5 feet of the first target.

Cold Cantrip.
You can cast ray of frost using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip attacks all targets in the 60ft line, finishing with the final and primary target.

Fire Cantrip.
You can cast fire bolt using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip now bounces to an additional target within 15ft (requires second spell attack).

Force Cantrip.
You can cast eldritch blast using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, bolts fired at structures automatically hit and deal max damage.

Lightning Cantrip.
You can cast shocking grasp using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip is now a ranged spell attack with a range of 40 feet.

Necrotic Cantrip.
You can cast chill touch using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, you can target additional creatures up to half your intelligence modifier rounded down (minimum 1).

Poison Cantrip.
You can cast poison spray using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip's range is increased to 60 feet and if the target succeeds on their saving throw, it takes half damage.

Psychic Cantrip.
You can cast mind sliver using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip now fires an additional sliver targeting another creature within the spells range.

Radiant Cantrip.
You can cast sacred flame using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrip now also attacks all creatures within 10ft of the target.

Thunder Cantrip.
You can cast thunderclap using your Dragon Cannon as a focus.
Additionally, this cantrips range is increased to 10ft.

Forged Scales

9th-level Wyrmforger feature

Beginning at 9th level, you know how to imbue a set of armor with draconic magic. While wearing armor imbued by Forged Scales, you gain the following benefits:

  • You receive bonus AC equal to half your Intelligence modifier (rounding up).
  • You can reroll a saving throw that you fail as a reaction. If you do so, you must use the new roll and you can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
  • You gain resistance to the damage type of your Dragon Cannon. When you change the chosen damage type of your Dragon Cannon, this resistance also changes to the newly chosen element.

You can imbue a set of armor with this feature whenever you finish a long rest. Only one piece of armor can benefit from your Forged Scales feature at a time. If you imbue a new armor, the enhancement on the old armor disappears immediately. This does not count towards your Artificer Infusions, a piece of armor can benefit from the Forged Scales Feature and Infuse Items feature.

Dragonwrought

15th-level Wyrmforger feature

At 15th level, your skill with the forge reaches its peak and you learn how to meld the dragons' greatest abilities into your equipment. You gain the following benefits:

  • The range of your Wyrm's Breath feature increases to a 60ft line that is 10ft wide or 30ft cone.
  • If you use a 3rd level spell slot or higher to activate Wyrm Shell, you can cast an additional Wyrm Shell Cantrip on the same turn followed by a Dragon Cannon attack. When you use a 5th level spell slot or higher you can also attack with Dragon Cannon twice (in addition to casting the two Wyrm Shell Cantrips).
  • While wearing the armor benefiting from your Forged Scales feature you manifest spectral dragon wings on your back. You gain a flying speed equal to your 5 + your artificer level + five times your Intelligence modifier.

Additionally, summon draconic spirit no longer requires concentration, the draconic spirit is under your control for 24 hours, after which it disappears. To maintain control of the draconic spirit for another 24 hours, you must cast this spell (summon draconic spirit) again before the current 24-hour period ends. Only one draconic spirit can be active at a single time, casting the spell before it disappears only allows the draconic spirit to last another 24 hours. It also gains the below benefits

  • The draconic spirit's hit point maximum is increased by an amount equal to two times your artificer level.
  • The draconic spirit adds your proficiency bonus + Intelligence modifier to all damage rolls.
